World 2.1 REVAMP?

since I came back into the foundry I have been excited by the less restricting map sizes. This got me thinking is now a good time for the foundry to consider a REVAMP to World 2.1? It is a great playing map that is graphically sub standard and frankly to cramped in its current format. A REVAMP to this map would give a new lease of like to one of CC's most beloved maps.

What do you all think?

I've actually thought of that recently. Instead of a revamp of 2.1, why a new World 3.0 where we can practically have every country included in a supersize version?

Yeah that is also something that interests me. But that doesn't mean that 2.1 doesn't need a revamp. A size increase so that sections of the map aren't so cramped would be great.

i agree with both of you even if i'm not a big fan of revamps. to be honest i'd be ok with world 2.1 getting just a simple straight forward resize.

A REVAMP might also make many angry, since it is one of the most beloved maps!

revamps should only be for unpopular or sub par graphics map. world 2.1 is one of the most played maps on the site and i wouldnt want a revamp on it.A supersize world 3.0 would be good to have but no 2.1 revamp.

One could argue that 2.1 is sub-par in graphics, or at the very least dated...

I mean, it has connections you can't see even on the large map... like Egypt-Levant, or Greece-Turkey...

We should gather 5 mapmakers, each draws 1 continent, and then stitch them together as a huge map...

Wasn't that how the gods created the platypus?

Psh. That's what I was gonna do for Epic Epoch!

Anyway, in my opinion World 2.1 doesn't need a revamp. It's got a nice, clean look that's served well for years. Yes, it's simple, but simple isn't necessarily bad.

Anyone want to do this? Though I foresee a problem with the Copyright agreement. Someone will have to claim the copyright on it.

Many moons ago, i recall being asked to examine this map for a revamp, but because of size restrictions it was impossible.
I think that with new sizing limits it certainly could do with enlargement, but still retain the same colours, style.

If its not broken, don't fix it. There are other maps that need revamping. WWII Europe comes to mind but not 2.1. When someone joins CC plays 2.1 then plays on newer maps, they can gain a feel for how far CC has come along on the map making process and quality of maps.

If I remember correctly, the original map was drawn in vector graphics, so should be able to be upsized with ease.... All we need is somebody to trawl the original thread to see if the vector files are still available...

hm, maybe I was thinking of one by WM (probably, but not sure) where the map was a shit load of squares in a rectangular frame, but it was colored like the world map.

I would only be in favour of a revamp if the site decided to support three map sizes instead of two, with the new one being larger than the existing large. World 2.1 is big enough now.

I don't think the map needs much of a revamp, it just needs to be bigger so you can tell what you'r attacking. Europe and the Middle east, Central America as well, are hard to tell.
