Welcome to the second annual map awards.

A very productive year in the foundry. 20 maps have been produced played on and entered into this years awards. With the two held over from lasts years competition, we have 22 maps to judge this year.

Now it is time to pay tribute to the map makers for all their hard work and decide who is the best of the best.Image

Here are the categories in which you can vote. You can vote in all categories or none at all.
Image

How you vote is so simple, a baby can do it. Click on any of the wood banners and you will be whisked away to a magical site to post your answers. ;)

Image
Best map made for 4 players or less.

Image
Which has the best one versus one play?

Image
Maps made for 8 players. More the merrier for these bad boys.

Image
Something different for those of you that play doubles, triples or even quads.

Image
The super model of maps.

Image
Which map has the best gameplay.

Image
The map a two year old can play on.

Image
The most original idea in graphics or gameplay.

Image
New maps made by new map makers. But who has made the best.

Image
Which map makes the others shrink in fear.

Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image
For every map that wins in each of the categories, a shiny new General Achievement medal will be awarded to the map maker. But that is not all, six months premium will be given to the map maker that wins the Best of 2012 category. 2nd and 3rd places will also get additional 3 months of premium.

Below is a list of all the maps that you can vote on this year.
Kingdom of Denmark, Istanbul, Cuban Missile Crisis, Classic Cities: London, Patch Wars, Island of Doom, Knights, Africa II - SOS Africa Reward Map, Salem's Switch, Rail Asia, King's Court II, Eurasia, Eurasia Mini, 1982, Trench Warfare, Dark Continent, New Jersey, Copenhagen, Classic Cities: Jakarta, Classic Cities: Sydney, Classic Cities: Pot Mosbi, Magyarország.

Any map that comes out later will be moved over to next years awards (Baltic Crusades). Kingdom of Denmark and Istanbul are in from last year. The map makers are also entered into the best new map maker section. Voting lasts until the 14th January.

Rorke's Drift for best game play.

It might help if you listed the maps of 2012.

Why did Baltic Crusades miss the cut--was it released too late in the year or something? That would have been my vote for map of the year but guess I'll have to wait until 2014. Also is there no way to see the results of the poll on that site and if so when can we see any results?

Baltic Crusades was released too late for this year. I wanted each map to have some proper play time. Next year, I am thinking of doing it at the end of Jan so all maps get put into the correct year. As for the results, I will get screen grabs and post them with the results at the end. I will disable the links on the 15th so no more voting. Results will be posted here in the foundry and the dispatch on the 16th.

You could suspend the vote and redo it in February.

Guys, I'm happy you love the map and I think that is enough for me. When thebastard has left the site 1 year ago, I tried to finish that map because I was sure about the potential behind it, so your words are really all I need.

Baltic Crusades was left out? The map can't win? Maybe next year it won't win anyway because it has passed too much time?
Sorry but honestly I don't care, afterall it's not the end of the world. As said your kind words are enough, I appreciate them and I will continue to draw maps because people like you appreciate the effort.
Yeah, win the awards would be nice, but it's not my personal target while drawing a map and moreover I don't want that map becomes a reason to block the current poll.

Now, let the awards can continue anyway, if you like that map so much, remember to vote it next year. ;)

Thanks again to everyone

Well said. Too bad next year you're going to be up against 2 of my maps, so good luck.

I think it's been mentioned before, but why does it still say "You are not authorised to read this forum." when I click on the 2012 link in the OP?

Because the link was for a dispatch thread, I copied over the article into the first page though.
