I personally like making it large because of potential for the future. An epic 12-player game on a fantasy-themed map would be awesome! We already have a couple of LOTR-similar maps like Dawn of Ages and Midgard, but I'm thinking catapults, battering rams, castle walls, armies of orcs and trolls and war elephants . . . hey, a guy can dream. =)

All maps are in the drafting room, main foundry and beta maps. None are in the bins or ideas yet.

It is a hard one this week but others have got it. Look at the clues and the opening posts of the maps. That alone will give you 3 easy ones. Up to you to find the forth.

Thanks. I can't find Map 2 anywhere! Starting to think it may have been on an older version of a map or something. :|

Edit: I think I've got it. 8-[

why aren't you awarding a GA this week to everyone who has the good answers koontz? I'm not sure there will be that many right?

I will award the medal at the end of the week, like I did in the dispatch. This way you can all Image.

A few correct ones so far, but it is only Thursday here in sunny Hungary so a couple more days to go.

no I mean that apparently you will make a draw with random.org among correct answers instead of awarding to all correct answers this week, unlike previous competitions (at least the previous 3 or 4) ;)

I understand now, yep, random draw this week. The last few in the dispatch where to get you all hooked. Now that I have you, I will make you do despicable things to get a medal.

I voted for a medium map. While I enjoy maps of all sizes, large maps tend to be frustrating when playing games of 2-3 players. I was in a game on Eurasia for 5 months! We were essentially in a stalemate for 3 of those months which eliminates the need for real strategy.

So while I enjoy large maps for games with more players, I think a new fantasy medium map is what is needed!

Wait till we get 12 player games. A mid sized map cannot be played then. :(

I voted large, I have just been getting into team games, and the first map I played on teams was world 2.1, the size of it had me pretty scared at first, but it was one of the best games I have played here.

I voted "Medium" because its more suited for 2-3 player games. I also think quadruplets on medium maps are a bit more intense, aggressive and tactical.

I am reading a lot of good points on maps size. I will be happy with medium or large, just not small so I feel like a winner already. Since it looks like small is out the window. I will say comp 2 got me looking at the maps and I am just excited to see some of these come out.

Large, I guess.
But not a clusterf*ck map...everything has to be nicely spaced out.

For something "Epic" then it needs to be a large map.

small maps - too pot-luck on who starts
Medium maps - I like and it is a weigh-up between these and large...
Large maps - I like these too - but if it will be fantasy themed then it has to be "epic"

What, like Kings Court II, where if your read in the log that such-and-such a territory was taken from you, it can take 15 or 20 minutes to figure out where on the map that territory was?

Come on guys, all the fun games are on the medium maps. You can see the whole map at a glance, you can figure out what's happening (if it's sunny) just by seeing where people are laid out, you don't spend half your time writing notes and the other half hunting around the map trying to find out where the hell Tupinamba might be, or if FL3 connects to FL6. You just have to play!

Ok, changed my vote to medium map - the upper side of small and the lower side of medium amount to the same thing anyways!! A bit like two plus two equals five for very high orders or two (don't ya just love calculus and ordinary differential equation jokes!!).

Remember guys, large maps are only up to 99 regions, so no to a kings court 2 350 or a hive 250 oe Eurasia 200+ region map. Large maps up to 99 regions can take as little as 7 rounds to play so why anyone thinks that this is going larger is beyond me. Far more strategy to be had on larger maps, far more GP features to be had on larger maps. Small sucks unless you love 1v1, medium sucks for larger games like 8 players, and what happens when we get the 12 player games (sooner than you think).

We already have 135 mid ranged maps. Will another one just get lost in the bunch?
