wow! i just realized something!

map making = exact opposite of spam.

SPAM spelled backwords = MAPS

When I was at school, you could 'Spam' somebody by smacking them on the forehead with the palm of your hand. If you smacked somebody on the forehead with the back of your hand, then that was known as 'Maps'.
