Postby dugcarr1 on Fri Mar 31, 2006 3:41 am

do the math,,,,,, and at least have balls to look at 2 players pm's when someone is certen they are cheeting and tells u about it., i dont think people that dont pay dont deserve to have pm's anyway.
i have recieved about 12 PM s and 11 of them were people trying to get me to cheet...

i feel pretty riped off that i payed for this, and people that are cheeting that didnt pay wont be looked into by whomever collects the $$$ and runs this place.
if this is your attitude maybe you should not run a risk site and get a job in the Bush adminastration.....
dose any other honest players feel this way ?

... I'm having trouble figuring out what you're upset about... You dislike getting PM's from cheaters?

... Then a crack on the Bush Administration while YOU are the one calling for violations of privacy - "read their PM's", you say . . . Hmmmm....

... Dude, it's not worth getting upset about.

Reading members' PMs could be contrued as an "Illegal Search", according the US Constitution. Now, I know Salamander Software is in Canada... but surely they have similar laws.

I sincerely hope that guy isn't American. His posts would be a sad testament to the ragged and disreputable state of the US education system.

or maybe he's only 10 or something. I could forgive that.

CC has been running for 3 months now and I have yet to read a pm that wasn't sent to me. Not because I don't have the balls, rather because I have ethics. It would also be very bad public relations if conqies knew that CC staff were reading their messages. We want to built trust with the community, not the other way around!

Now having said that, I agree that we're doing a poor job of enforcing rule #2 (secret alliances). Rule #1 (multiple accounts) violations are fairly easy to prove. Rule #2 is grey and harder to prove. This is actually what I'm focusing on right now, and I hope to roll out a solution in the near future.

Lack, your doing a fantastic job and I'm pretty certain that 99% of players here would agree. :!:

As for secret alliances, I'm not even sure it's at all your responsibility to concern yourself with this. People enter games in good faith, and sometimes they get screwed over by cheaters, but that's the breaks and it happens to everyone.

Like say, I walk into a McDonalds and two guys decide to rob me and rough me up... Is that McDonald's fault? I don't think it is.

It's great that you have those alliance rules posted for all to see (must be posted in chat), but as there are no cash awards or anything for highest rank scores, nobody is really being damaged (aside from egos) by these low-life cheaters.

In my humble opinion, anyway.

Cripes sake, dug...this actually hurt my head to read. You are a classic poster child for spellcheck.

I have played well over 100 games and never had one pm as you describe. I propose that the folks sending them see the method in which you play and assume you would be open to their offers...god knows it wouldn't surprise me. You are the ONE player on this site I refuse to ever play with again. If you are feeling riped (ripped?) off, I for one would be happy to send you $20 to leave the site and never come back.

Your modus operendi however would be to take the money then enter as many of my games as you could in order to spread a liberal amount of your particular variety of ill will.

Stick to bad mouthing your own government and be careful in your use of the term honest.

The best way to control (read: stop) cheaters is to publish their names and then refuse to play with them. If you get a pm asking you to cheat, publish that info in the game chat so we all know who it is that wants to do this. It takes at least two to create a secret alliance. The second one involved has the opportunity to prevent the cheating initially and then to prevent the cheater from having a chance to do it again. Eventually, those that want to cheat will have no one to play with and they will go away -- and, the sooner the better.

I realize this may be an idealistic approach to this problem. It's been my experience, as limited as it is, that the vast majority of the people in here are pretty good folks that just want to play the game and have fun. That being true, it seems as a group, we can eliminate this problem by getting the perpetrators out in the public eye.

Thank you.

If you start screening PM's that wouldn't stop people cheating, they can still use IM or email or any of the other wondrous systems of communication technolgy has brought us..

This proves that Nobunaga is REALLY a Japanese citizen from Japan.

We Americans know that it is, in fact, McDonald's fault, and we can sue their incompentant asses for not having better security... in a fast food joint.

EDIT//I figured I should say something on-topic... But really, all I can think of is that this thread is garbage, and it's pretty much exactly what I'd expect from someone like dugcarr. Poorly thought-out, poorly worded, accusatory, atroshusly speld...

It's like playing in a game with him!

IMO, the only reason he started this thread was to figure out whether or not lack already had something like this in place so he can cheat.

Reasons for pms...
1.They are default for all forums
2.Doubles and Triples strategy i mean come on imagine this

SprCobra:Right we are ready fro a ftal strike they are weak in a certian postion but they cant know so lets hit em hard and tke him out use his cards and drill trough his partners borders
Weak Guy:OMFG REENFORCEMENT PLZ!
Partner:Hmm i think those borders need to be uber heavy
SprCobra:The perfect plan ruined due to no pms

but with a little pm magic!

The PM:

Lets attack that postion them and make a fatal strike ill go for the weak border(n00b what an idiot he enss to be taught this lesson)
As the enemy try to defend agaisnt me you flank them and we win instant points

Weak Guy:Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
Partner:Ill back you up with my turn
Weak Guy:WATCH OUT YOUR BEING FLANKED
Partner: oh damn i cant defend
SprCobra:Scream recruits scream heh heh

pms are needed for the vital stuff but if someone wants to cheat and pms just say no

How is it McDonald's fault lol (I'm American). Its suehappy people like you that keep all these scummy lawyers in our system.

So is McDonald's supposed to have armed guards at every entrance ;)

Plus, your wrong anyway. Just a few months ago a guy was robbed right outside a Burger King and the cops straight up said, you can't expect to be safe wherever you go, and the guy understood that and went after the perpetrators not an innocent establishment.

Back on topic though, If lack wanted he could search the PM's since its an assumed risk you take when you sign up on the boards, but as he said he doesn't.
