Awesome.

However: the new borders look bad.

Yeah - I think so. I'm actually building this with much more resolution and it's kind of an issue. Thx.

Please put the title back int the first post so people can see what map it is. After you do that we can move this back into the Main Foundry.

vaughn, welcome back. Really nice to see this here again. Bare with me as this is a new one for me to really dig into.

Taiwan, part of the Northwest bonus but it looks unconnected to anything. Same with Celam in South East. Central, what is connected to what? Does Sumatra attack Batavia?
In the legend you say:
FLEETS-1 way attacks ports bombards land
Troops 2 way attacks fleet and sea passages.

So if I have read that right, SF3 can attack Bangkok, Singapore and PF1? What can it bombard?
Macau attacks the sea route which can then attack the fleets. Correct?

This is what happens when you look at a map for the first time after a long while. O:)

aren't some of the names spelled wrongly? or am I overseeing something?

burnei ==> brunei
nieuw Brittian ==> Nieuw Brittaniƫ
Papau ==> Papua
Loesin ==> Luzon
Malaka ==> Malakka
Hainin ==> Hainan

Glad you're back vaughn. In no particular order:

- I like the old borders.
- I'm having a hard time figuring out what attacks the Spice Islands. I see the magnifying glass on the main map with lines coming into it, for ex. from PF3, but what does that specifically attack, and what do the Islands attack out to?
- If by "Attack troops within their own archipelagos", you mean they only attack within their colored region, except for the sea routes, and where indicated, you may want to say that (as far as "colored regions"). First of all I think there will be some people who have no idea what an archipelagos is, and therefore won't know that Bali attacks Java, even without a sea route (unless I have this all wrong, in which case you need to explain it even better, lol).

Keep up the great work.

vaugn, we need guidance on what bits of land u want the ships to bombard. can a ship bombard all land or just some?

the current wording of the legend suggests that ports can attack only land regions unless they're connected to sea passages, so singapore can attack only malaka. am i right?

in the first post, can u please list the regions that start neutral? i presume they include all ports and one ship in each fleet.

cochin china is too far north. cochin china ought to be the part of dai viet (roughly today's vietnam) that borders kambodje on our map. i suggest that the current cochin china region is divided into a northern part called either china or canton (china's main port) and a southern part called dai viet. hainan can be eliminated if u want to keep the same number of regions, since it was an unimportant island.

vaughn, going to give you to the weekend to post an update. Please get one done (even a small thing). Just keep this alive and allow others to comment. Then when you slow down you can continue. Either that or I can bung this on holiday for you.

instead of fleets 1-way attack ports, ships 1-way attack ports is more precise.

Vaughan, great improvements since i saw this last.

Just some food for thought from a design point of view...the large round key at bottom for the Spice Islands, and the maps beside them for legends needs some design connection in my mind.

They seem like three seperate pieces just plonked on the graphic at the moment.

The graphic around the title is nice and connects with the Spice Island key border,,,perhaps something in that vain to connect the entire legend together.

Thank you. I'll think about that. What first comes to mind is wrapping the chain thru the parchments, but would that really be a gain or just more clutter? I'll keep thinking if you - or anyone - has idea let me know.

Pretty nice looking map. Your font needs to be fixed if you ask me. It is pretty hard to read. Also you will need to size your map down unless you wish to try for a supersized map which I do not think is needed.

Your army circles are the wrong size. 22 pixels wide is what is needed.

Keep going. Looks pretty nice. :)

What's the difference of a 'Quick Reply' and 'POSTREPLY'..?

Thanks - As far as the fonts, if you want to suggest a font, I'll try it. Fair enough? Font's are sort of a mystery to me, but I can 'read' mine even with my glasses off... The map size has been approved long ago - that was as big as they would let me go, which is also a mystery to me. To me there should be a LARGE map and a small map for display purposes. It makes NO SENSE to me that the LARGE maps and the small maps are practically the same size. My monitor is 2560x1440 and I don't think that's so unusual today. I have been building this map much larger and then scaling it down to drop in the fonts and small stuff... It's caused me a lot of problems and extra work, but I want to be able to print it out 'playing board' size when it's done. If that ever happens... Because of this - I'm sure you are correct about the 'army circles' and I will check them and adjust accordingly. Still trying to come up with something per Cairnswk's suggestion.

Thank you.

Question: it says seapassage -2, is that -2 decay or -2 deploy? Because if it's deploy, that sounds kinda harsh. If it's -2 decay you should specify it better

Intention is -2 armies at start of turn, same as Russian Winter in Napoleon. Which is that? Thanks.

Also - I've not completed a map. I was thinking some of that stuff needs to be worked out in 'game play', but ???. I would think it probably has issues to sort out to be sure play is even...

that's decay, and I understand you were waiting, but often people throw comments in a different order.
Also, this may be a stupid question, but why are some countries in english and other in dutch?

I've got another stupid answer > I based the map on Wallace's map which was in Dutch - but maybe something I couldn't read, or it was not there, or whatever. Then some people corrected my spellings and I just generally went with what they said... Or maybe they said this should be this instead of that for time frame, etc... So it may be a bit of a hodgepodge. I half way expected that some 'expert' would come along and straighten it all out...

Thanks again.

well depending on what you prefer as a language, here's the dutch translation to some of these areas anyway:
  • Kambodje ==> Cambodja
  • also in the description is written Malaka, and on the map Malakka

Noticed these were attempted to be written in dutch.
if you ever need a dutch translation of anything tell me :P

great looking map btw!!
