haha, Well, That thread "first 4 moves" is friggen awesome. Not kidding. I picked up what I needed to know on playing the rounds leading up to where you can make a possible kill.

Then, a couple of friends, gave me some pointers on what to do after that. Never go before you have at least 25 coming to you and set things up as you go keeping the next target in mind and how you're going to move around the board to sweep.

And yep, I have been added to the officer's private game list on recommendation with a "do not show me up" warning from a friend. hehe! :P.

Don't think I have won many of the private games yet since I've only played a few, so was mostly public standard/ term escalating games I joined while avoiding low rank games as much as possible in order to avoid the monkeys. :) I have won many many public games in the same style as SoC.

Well Done Shannon. Its very straight forward and simple is it not? Some people seem to think we teach some super secrete technique, while in reality its simple common sense anyone can do. The first four moves can be critical, which is why the troop discipline is so key.

By round 6 or 7 you should be looking for who to make a move on. By round 9 the game is usually over. Strategy and deployment really depends on the map your playing. As you have probably gathered, what you learn here at SoC is here to help you build a foundation from which to play from.

Good luck

Yes, pretty much. There is so much common sense involved. For me it was more a less "oh, that's what I am doing wrong" rather than learning any secrets. I was making some of the common noob mistakes. I never played risk before joining CC and I thought bonuses were everything. You have to make the mistakes to learn from them...

and, I see several high ranking players making the same noob mistakes I was making in escalating because they have perfected other settings from which they gain all their points. I guess what I am saying is that one should never think they are awesome after gaining some points. Those who stay humble are the people that will continue to learn and become better players. I still have so much to learn as a player. :)

My score went down slightly since I last posted haha, but it's way more than enough still. I now should have posted 5 games for help. :)

If you believe you are ready to graduate I ask that you send me your stats. I will then run it by SOC staff and we will set up some grad games.

Want to graduate from the Academy? Here's what you need to do:

#1: Post at least 5 games for help in your Training Field, with no more than 2 at the same time.

#2: Achieve rank of Lieutenant, while gaining 300 points (net) in Training Grounds-style games (6-7 player, standard or terminator, escalating, unlimited, sunny, casual, auto deploy) since joining. Use maprank to check this out. For players who join at major and above, this portion is waived.

#3: Complete at least 10 Training Grounds style games since joining.

#4: Complete 2 Final Exam games against the staff. (Note: You don't have to win, just demonstrate that you know what we teach)

#5: Graduates must demonstrate a good attitude and a willingness to learn. All teachers have input on potential graduates' behavior.
