Other than that, I'd like feedback on the following proposition:

- lowering landing site neutrals to 2
- increasing shuttle starting troops to 4 each

It seems like it's too easy for a player to get a big lead in the beginning if he has better dice, especially in 1v1 games. To combat this I would make the landing sites easier to take.

Ok, after giving it some more thought and games, here's the current plan:

- increase starting troops to 4 per shuttle

- increase mine bonus to 3 per mine

Neutrals stay as they are for now.

Does anyone object these changes?

I like those changes natty, but i think you should change some of the neutrals a bit, finished a few games on it already and have a bunch going on it right now, it seems to me that USA shuttle is the best to have, you just attack that 5 neutral and have access to both the bonus and the 15 neutral to break to the shuttles, as for other bases, they kinda suck to have, ill have to play it a bunch more and give some more input, i do better when i play it then just looking

I agree that US is quite strong. I might consider swapping one of it's landing sites with another landing site... what country would seem really weak at this moment? (US1 <-> ZA1 seems a good candidate...)

Anyway, I think I'll do these changes first and then see if the landing sites need to be shuffled.

Lunar Wars

Postby kmhebert on Wed Sep 22, 2010 1:04 pm

Just finished a few games on this map, I think it's great. And not just because I won! It has an interesting mix of the Jamaica and Arms Race strategies, and the graphics are among the best on this site. Very cool, great job!

I agree with the changes. If you get unlucky on the first roll of the game you are already WAY behind.

I love the map. Still trying to figure out the bonus system completely though.

landing sites are hard to find.. I am having to scan the map often just to locate.. although the flags are there the bold white labeling gets lost in the other white markings on the map.. changing the labeling color for these could alleviate this issue..

Just remember: #1 is always the one that's more to the left and #2 is the one on the right.

hey natty... I know its probabaly WAYYY too late for this... but something that would add a TON of depth in gameplay would be for the shuttles to be able to bombard 3 seas apiece...

Right now if you are a conservative player like me, there is no home on this map for my style. I would rather sit up in my ship and bombard a sea for cards and come out late... Right now you are forced to pushforward for a card, sort of like pelo. war.

It would make this map as deep if not deeper than the feudals.. imo

I'm sorry but for this map I want to steer clear of that feudal style "bombard for cards" gameplay... I want this to be an agressive map, one where you "move it or lose it" so to speak.

I think after you play a few more games with different settings you'll agree with me. Try no spoils... when there's no spoils involved nothing stops you from building your stacks.

With spoils, you'll just have to think your strategy through. Will you go for all the sites as fast as possible to gain a higher bonus, or will you take them slowly to gain more cards. I'm sure it's also different in flat vs. esc, which is the smarter choice...

ps.

yay, update :D
