Well with all the borders it could be interesting, it doesn't really have to be made for it's easy to hold the continants.

I'd have to agree that probably 5 continents for a smaller map would seem like a more correct route to go. It could be 'interesting', it could also turn out to be a map that lacks decent playability, which would be a shame for such a finely crafted map. We want everything to reflect your hard work, both the visuals and the play.

Marv, I appreciate your feedback, but I don't agree. Not all continents need to be holdable.

I'm going to submit is at is, and we'll see how it plays. Realistically you can theorise all you want about a map, but until you play it there's no reall telling if it'll be good.

Huh?!?! And mainly the small continents, by the way... no need for small and holdable continents, since its a strategy never used  I sincerely believe this is a great error, and it can kill your map. But its your choice, so if you really want, you can test it.

I'd suggest knocking the West down to 2... it just seems a lot easier to hold than the rest.

It's true that it's hard to tell until you play it. People used to print out up and coming maps and play them. The Canada map got that treatment I think, and possibly a few others. I think it'd be a good idea if it was done more often.

I guess another map that will just have to be play tested...

You know, just because I disagree with you, doesn't mean I'm wrong. I listened to your opinion and considered it, so there's no need for smart comments.
It's very easy to critique something, it's another thing entirely to create it.

qeee1 - I think you're right about the west all right. I'm going to change that before I submit it. Now all the XML fun begins.

I never said you were wrong because you disagreed with me. :) Lots have and to his and her their own. The comment, if anything, was a statement of fact. It is another map we will be play testing, along with a few others, since some maps look wonderful and playable, but they turn out not to be, and vice versa. Many examples exist of both. Taking offense, when none was even there, was rather brash.

Hey, when the map is released what say we have a battle of the Irish players? There's at least 4... and probably some more lurkers...

I meant to say: the map looks really good. For presentation I think it's the best I've seen here.

That's an odd suggestion. SW is by far the easiest region to capture, and SE one of the hardest.

                  Final Forge

---The Ireland map* has reached the ‘Final Forge’ Stage. I've revived this thread from the pits of the Foundry furnace and have examined the contents. Nearly every major concern has been addressed. If there are any other current concerns, please make your voice heard. There will be two days for you to post any objections; if no one has posted any protest after two days the map will be deemed finished with the 'Foundry Brand' of approval and will be submitted for live play. If after two days there is still discussion going on it may continue until said discussion has reached the conclusion that the map has reached its final and polished version.

Post questions and concerns if any.

*(Note: most maps won't go through such a long waiting period as this map and the Space map.)

Actually, I've a minor change that I'm going to make, I'm going to change the name of the regions like you suggested.

I'll send it on to lack once it's done. :)

I believe that some continents have more borders than they should, and 5 continents is too much... Just my opinion. Anyone with me?

is there a way the colors of the continents can be altered? right now they are too light and not very distinguishable from one another.

They are light... but they look fantastic! A very nice counterpoint to the darker maps... Can't wait for the liveness. Good work Kev.

The colors look OK to me (although the green could be brightened a little), but I think Marvaddin might be right. It's true that "not all continents need to be holdable", but having the Midlands, the East, and the South East right next to each other makes me wonder if any player who starts in that half of the map might be doomed from the start, just because there's nowhere for them to really gain a foothold while other players claim the West and South West.

(Oh, and I think it's great that you're switching to non-directional continent names.)
