Differences:

some of the territory names

added a mini map

connected Devon to Munster and Dyfed

Yeah I've been looking for names in books. I found some older names for regions in Brittany and added them in this draft. I also changed some names in Scotland, but those will probably be changed again though... I'm, not particularly happy with the names in Scotland.

If you do, don't take your time to paint it. Give us a basic idea of the gameplay in a computer graphics thing before you go all out on graphics, save the effort for the workshop as we know you're proven in the graphics department.

Don't worry about that, I only need to paint it the one time. I painted each Island separately and pieced it together on the computer. I can make a lot of changes with out having to repaint anything. Also I stretched Scotland a little for you ;)

i think the mini is a bit too big and maybe you can shorten the distance between scotland and wales cause its looks way to big on the map.
Where you have munster is actually south leinster so maybe rename it to south leinster or wexford.

the map is looking good,good work and keep the updates coming :D .

the names looks much better now. I write here some more names, use them if you like them ;)

your names::: new ones::: why
-------------- ----------- -----
cork::: munster::: cork was established by Vikings much later
munster::: leinster::: leinster is more in this area as munster
limerick::: dal cais::: limerick was founded by Vikings.
leinster::: mide::: old kingdom
border country::: oriel::: old kingdom
ulster::: ulaid::: old name

highlands::: cait::: old pictish kingdom
aberdeen::: circinn::: old pictish kingdom
garmpain::: fortriu::: old pictish kingdom
strathclyde::: ystrad clud::: older name
edinburgh::: gododdin::: old brithonic kingdom

cardiff::: gwent::: cardiff is town, gwent is region´s name

isle of man::: mann::: old form of name

the rest looks good. here is only question if you will use english form or also celtic. I´m not sure about London - it was not so important at this era, maybe better could be have it also as celtic sea - London it is just crossing point...?

Thank you this is a big help!!! Sniper08 mentioned the Leinster thing as well so I'll make that change. Actually I'll probably make most all of these changes, especially in Scotland. I want to cross check theses before I drop them onto the map so I'm making a call for all Native Irishmen, Scotsmen, and Welshmen to check out these old names and make sure they fit. I just looked over the Scottish names and they all seem to fit (except it might make more sense to switch the location of Circinn and Fortiu) and they're all from the same era which is also good.

Oh yeah and...

I´m not sure about London - it was not so important at this era, maybe better could be have it also as celtic sea - London it is just crossing point...?

I read in a book that London was built over a druidic site of worship. Many of the old druid site remained until they were destroyed in WWII. I needed a crossing point across the land in Great Britain to connect Scotland, Cornwall, and Wales. It presented itself as a convenient option. Maybe as time goes on I'll be able to find the old Druid name for the site and be able to replace it with that.

hmmm #-o what if we were to change the London crossing point into Stonehenge instead? It would then make more sense as a +1 and they're *relatively* in the same place

not at all. the problem is that I do not know from which era is map. better said map is from hundreds years so it is hard to find names from the same era...
I a little changed positions of Fortriu and Circinn because Fortriu was at Moray position.

I did not mean that London is bad idea. just have it as Celtic sea - so not auto-deploy but killer neutral...

maybe Stonehenge would be better?

I like the new names :). The connection from devon to dyfed doesn't feel right to me. I think it would go better with devon connected to cardiff. Dyfed is right next to munster and I don't think it serves much of a purpose to have those two connected.

What if you connect devon to cardiff and have Londres connected to powys?

It seems weird but I connected Devon to Dyfed because Cardiff is too close. There literally isn't enough room to draw in a connection :lol: Besides I can't have Devon connect to Cardiff and London connect to Powys because then you would have to defend every territory in wales, and that's something I want to avoid.

BTW, keep posting if you want because I'll be taking those things into consideration on my next draft but I probably won't get around to it until I get Thyseneal into the Final Forge.

I saw that. You could fit it if you started the connection a little farther to the left. There are two dips right there. Start it from the second one from the right and that could fit.

Quick note: you call it Londres on the map and London in the bonus description. Pick one? ;)

But while you're picking, I'm going to shuttle this thing down the assembly line to the Gameplay Workshop.

These bonuses are rather overvalued. I recommend:
Scotland: 3
Ireland: 4
Isle of Man: 1
Wales: 2
Cornwall: 1
Brittany: 2
Galicia: 3

Wales, for its centrality and difficulty in defending, would be 3, except that a continent that small likely to be dropped by the first player.

I think I can agree with most of those. I wouldn't mind seeing Ireland 1 higher. I kind of want Ireland to function as the "mainland" sort of like this maps asia.

Wales, for its centrality and difficulty in defending, would be 3, except that a continent that small likely to be dropped by the first player.

That doesn't matter if the first player to play gets the bonus -- the +3 troops would be too much of an advantage, especially on a map this size.

I agree with Evil's suggestions on the bonus amounts. Ireland and Wales could be 1 more. I think the only way you can make them worth a higher bonus is to have more connections between their lands. Like leinster to gwynedd and devon to cardiff (instead of dyfed) would open it up more as well ;).

Ok, I put the new version up here's what's different:

1.) I changed a lot of the names around to be more appropriate.

2.) I shrunk the mini map just a little.

3.) I enlarged Scotland once again.

4.) I added little swirls into the ocean area's (maybe a needless touch well see)

5.) I dropped the bonuses.

6.) I added a territory in Ireland.

7.) I added a non-bonus territory called the Giants Causeway, and added a sea connection from and Ulster to Ystrad Clud.

The Giants Causeway is a geographical anomaly in northern Ireland that in myth is believed to be what is left of a road that giants built from Ireland to Scotland. It can also be seen on the cover of Houses of the Holy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giants_causeway

Next I'd like to talk about sea connections, I'm considering connecting, Mide to Mann, and Leinster to Gwynedd.

Maybe Wales could have some kind of coding to prevent it being dropped?

I'm wondering if the Celtic Sea makes Ireland harder to defend - in theory, 3 players can make a joint attack from their bonus areas, retreating back from the sea to allow the next attack. Maybe?

New version!

Differences:

I changed Mide to Meath (to match Leinster, Munster, Connacht , and Ulster, the 5 first Kingdoms of Ireland) The name is of the same era.

I also swapped the sea connection that connect Mann to Ireland from Ulster to Meath. I did this because it makes Ireland just a little harder to hold (to make it more appropriately worth 5) while not affecting how hard it is to hold Mann.

I also added the troop counters on the small.

The map is looking very nice ,Bison.

Does the Giants causeway have any bonus,since both celtic sea and stonehenge are affected.

Cornwall seems undervalued since both territorys need to be defended from 5 possible attack sites so maybe increasing it to +2 and adding an extra territory could make the bonus more even.
