The requirements are evaluated whenever you conquer/bombard a territory, nuke a country, or are hit by a killer neutral. So if you do not meet a requirement from the initial game drop you might have a chance to conquer it and become safe.

No, that doesn't make sense. I've seen many times a situation where if I take someone's losing condition, they are instantly eliminated. So they did not conquer/bombard, nuke or be hit by a killer neutral, but got eliminated when I took their territory.

Maybe you mean, that the conditions are checked when anyone conquers/bombards, nukes etc., but that doesn't make sense either, since yellow would already have been eliminated then in that baseball game.

So how do the conditions actually work?

I think he means the last losing condition territory of someone's must be assaulted/bombarded/etc. in order for the losing condition to take effect.

My previous post was the official explanation, written by lackattack, so it makes sense. ;)

In this case the yellow player can be eliminated only if someone will attack him and take at least one home run in that game.
In fact each time your region is conquered or is neutralized (from bombardment, nuked or via killer neutrals) the game engine will check to see if you still hold the requirements; if not, you are instantly eliminated from the game.
If they don't attack him, losing conditions are not checked. That's the answer, as ender said the player must lose a region or nothing will happen. :)

Right, the losing condition was not in the XML when yellow lost his pitcher, so he was not eliminated then. Now that the XML has changed, there has not been an action which would trigger the evaluation of yellow's requirement.

Anything else that needs to be changed on this one?
Are we happy with it as it is now?

Last Call

If anyone has any other comments on tweaking the gameplay/graphics, now is the time to speak up! If there are no other concerns within the next couple of days, this map will be quenched!

Congrats EvilD for the gameplay and layout- as you say in the intro, this idea has been tried many times without success, so it was an ambitious project from the start and you made it work. And congrats natty for the graphics and saving the map when rl took away EvilD's time- you know you're becoming like a lifeguard for endangered maps.

I really can't say enough about how impressed I am with this map, because it models the actual game pretty well and yet it doesn't feel like an overly complicated map. I think the easy-on-the-eyes graphics go a long way towards that end.

Again, a well deserved congratulations to you both =D>

I love a classical reference. (Say, Myrmidons would make a great clan name, don't you think?)

Congratulations, Evil and natty!

I think this got missed, but LI7 is mistakenly capitalized so it looks like "II7" in the game log.

Hi, I am playing this map for my first time, with fog of war on. I was wondering if you would consider making the Baseballs on the field reset to neutral as soon as you finish you turn as the next player can just follow which ball you hit to making fog of war pointless and penalizing you for hitting first.

Just a thought :)

Sorry the current XML doesn't work in that way, though that is an interesting thought.

This current format leaves lots of tactical possibilities though - you can for example attack one baseball and leave a 1, then attack somewhere else, for example. Make your opponent guess which is right

Why is Hank not able to attack RF 4? Ted can attack all the way to the LF line

Looking at the map, it occured to me you might be able to incorporate steals. Maybe 1st base can assault 2nd base? My other question is why 15 on the mound? Looks great, keep it up!

It's up to 2 territories away... RF4 is 3 away from Hank

Right, but why would you have LF be different from RF?

Because you don't want a completely symmetric map.

LI7 is listed as II7 in the XML.
