I'm fine with how the blurb is right now on the small map, and I think removing more text from it will degrade the explanation.

Increased opacity and font size of the text blurb. Does that make it a little more clear?

ironsij0287...the story text on the small map is good for me now.
But there are three things that i beleve can be improved upon, and i know you've probably been over them with others...but IMHO it would help improve the map greatly
1. the river name texts needs to be slightly brighter/bigger so that is legiable, evne though it is superfluous to gameplay
2. the stort text on the large map needs increased size or opacity so that it is more legible...i say this because those who still cannot read the small map text will be able to read it on the large map
3. i do wish you would decrease or get rid of the inner shadow of the citys' outside border...i am sorry to say this but is simply makes the map look grubby.
Other than that it is well improved on where it was last time i commented some weeks ago. :)

1. I'll work on those. I've been wondering about them tooo.
2. easy fix, consider it done.
3. I decreased once already. I'll play around with it again and see how it looks.

Changes in v.7.3.1

    - increased opacity and font size on Story Text in bottom left to make them more legible.
    - changed river labels to new font and style to make them more legible
    - Changed inner shadow around whole region, reducing opacity and switching from multiply to color burn, thus making it appear less "grubby" and dull.

I'm not sure why, but I just read through almost this entire thread. I've got nothing to add at this stage. It looks great and I can't wait to play it. Also, I'm so glad you kept the gameplay simple.

I must say you have now a good simple city map
as it says simple is not easy
one point you can improve is the Vandruff Island colour
as it is very narrow and you have emboss effect on it
it is hard to tell if it is part of Rock Island or Blackhawk
especially if you think their will be an army counter all over it
what you have to do is to make the red a little bit stronger
so it would be more certain it is part of Blackhawk

Changes in v.7.3.2

    - darkened the red in Blackhawkto better emphasize that Vandruff Island is part of that region.

Oh, I got it. I was confused for a bit, since 'Blackhawk' is the name of the region above Vandruff, but also the name of the Bonus Zone of which Vandruff is a part. Sort of awkward!

So the Blackhawk region (territory) is not part of the Blackhawk zone (continent), but rather part of the Rock Island zone (continent)? Is that an oversight, or just a weird reality of the local names?

Weird reality I guess. The Blackhawk territory in Rock Island is where Blackhawk State Park is located in real life. While Blackhawk continent is named for Blackhawk Township which encompasses most of that area.

A lot of things in the Illinois Quad Cities have the name Blackhawk. That area was where Sauk leader Chief Black Hawk spent a large part of his life. He's the same person that the NHL Chicago Blackhawks get their name from, albeit indirectly.

Well, this map was already XML approved. However, I confirm that after fixing the coordinates for some territories, everything seems to continue being ok.

          Beta - Quenching

---The Final Forge period has concluded for the Quad Cities Map. All objections have had their time. The Foundry and I hereby brand this map with the Foundry Beta Brand. Let it be known that this map is now ready for BETA Play. After an extended period of time in BETA and once all quirks and issues have been resolved, the map will be put into Full Play (barring any Lack vetoes).

While the map is in BETA Play, there are a couple of administrative tasks that are required of the mapmaker(s) in addition to the initial gameplay testing:
    1. Please ensure that the first post of the thread contains all the necessary information to help future visitors to the development thread; it's particularly important to ensure the most recent images are there, along with any helpful guides (such as gameplay quirks/nuances or the location/size of any starting neutrals etc.)
    2. Finally, it is the responsibility of the mapmaker(s) to ensure that they respond to further feedback in a timely and constructive manner.

While you might have come off as harsh in the long run you did this map a giant favor. Looks much better than it did. Well done by all getting this one done.
