          Beta - Quenching

---The development period has concluded for the 1588 Spanish Armada Map. All objections have had their time. The Foundry and I hereby brand this map with the Foundry Beta Brand. Let it be known that this map is now ready for BETA Play. After an extended period of time in BETA and once all quirks and issues have been resolved, the map will be put into Full Play (barring any Admins or Foundry Foreman vetoes).

While the map is in BETA Play, there are a couple of administrative tasks that are required of the mapmaker(s) in addition to the initial gameplay testing:
    1. Please ensure that the first post of the thread contains all the necessary information to help future visitors to the development thread; it's particularly important to ensure the most recent images are there, along with any helpful guides (such as gameplay quirks/nuances or the location/size of any starting neutrals etc.)
    2. It is the responsibility of the mapmaker(s) to ensure that they respond to further feedback in a timely and constructive manner.
    3. Write a "creative" map description and send it to the Foundry Foreman via PM. You're encouraged to post it into the first post of the thread as well; the description will be used to populate the maps database.

These are adjustment images that will be added to - when someone spots an issue with anything graphic....however we will wait a little while before they are uploaded.
i have already spotted the non-centering of text in some places. :oops:

Game 13102017 Green gets 6? Margate Land Bonus is getting 0. What do we need to get the extra 1? Everyone else gets 7.

one comment from game Game 13102399 was this was a "go first you win" kind of map.
any thoughts on this!

Agreed. Even with doubles and triples it may be "go first win" map.

i think the Monarch conditionals are not programmed correctly

it says: A Monarch region (M) can be assaulted only if you hold both Bow & Stern of same Commanderā€™s Ship

so using BOB, placing the cursor over my command ships which i hold both regions of...
i can attack all M positions, and i don't tink that is what should happen

according to the instructions, because it says "a M region can be assualted only if you hold both B&S of SAME commander's ship.
so if i hold both B&S, i should not be able to see the M positions of other command vessels unless i also hold them entirely

ergo one command ship should only be able to assault it's own M position

EDIT: after checking the latest file on the previous page ...V3.xml

There is no conditional in it.
Also i beleive the San Lorenzo Bow should only border the Hugo De Moncado M position if the both bow and stern of San Lorenzo are held by same person....i.e. too many borders in the xml for bow and stern position.

Should not this be the xml for this conditional function?

with ship and treasury linked individually
its less open
and the battle is more on the sea

I don't know what file was posted into the game engine, but the below file is the latest file that I have, which includes both the losing condition, and all the correct conditional borders, as I understand them to be.

I was under the assumption that, so long as you hold the B & S of the corresponding Command Ship, you could assault the Monarch from ANY command ship. I.E., if I hold both B & S of Capitania, I can assault Don Diego Medrano from any other Command Ship. This makes more sense to me, but I can certainly change if I need to.

If I can only attack a Monarch position from the corresponding Command Ship (i.e., only two regions can assault a Monarch position), assuming I hold both B & S, that is a very simple fix I can make.

As far as first player going first, I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that the bonuses dropped are so large. It might make more sense to remove all the bonuses for SS, LB, etc., and make them autodeploys instead.

I also think we should edit the number of starting positions to 2 or 3 total. 6 starting positions per player in 1v1 is too much.

Well i looked at the 27Mar file and that wasn't correct either.
Anyway, lets get the file fixed as per the current conditions and get that posted....a few minutes will do it > refer examples previous page (i think they'd be correct).

well, no i don't agree because this gives 1v1 oppontunity as it is now to have a really good dingdong battle.
only if there is a massive call from the player to change this will i consider it.

I don't know how else to change that other than limit the amount of bonuses and starting positions per player. You asked for ideas, and that seems to be the best idea in my opinion. Do you have a better one, or are you content leaving it the way it is?

And the file in the game engine right now has no conditions in it at all. If the file posted above were in play, at least there would be conditional borders.

Anyway, here is the corrected XML...conditional borders have been corrected and Margate LB has been given the proper bonus. The losing requirement was in this file the entire time.

I have already spoken on this in previous post. Don't push me.
If there are calls for change then let the callers post in here.

Yes, and i don't care whose fault it is, just get the damned thing fixed the way it should be.

Thanks Gilligan, i've just had a look at the "Amada16Aug.xml" file posted by Nolefan and that file is indeed "off-centering"
so it probably contains an older version.

I will make changes to the 27June file that was included in the xml stamp two pages back and attach that as soon as i have it completed.

should this be able to happen? I understand from the legend that you are only able to assault your own monarch, not others?
