In fairness France has seen more wars than almost any other country, 100 years war, Napoleonic wars, Franco-Prussian war, WW1, WW2. It could be a very interesting map. And raising the white flag is hardly their favoured tactic overall.

I'd vote for the french names for the regions. adds some flavour. some distinctnessivity

is this any use??? maybe it's where you got your info anyway...

the last time we lost a war was 1066.

I'll be 98 when we celebrate 1000 years of no surrender and no defeat

No, that was the last time we were invaded. We lost several wars in the colonies.
Taking an enemy on the battlefield is like a hawk taking a bird. Though it enters into the midst of a thousand of them, it pays no attention to any bird other than the one it has first marked.

Um, lets see...

First off, the american revolution thing was in response to Mr Pedro up there saying something ridiculous about not losing a war in 1000 years..

And i'm not even going to bother arguing about how we saved your ass in world war 2. *cough* lend-lease act *cough* But seriously lets see, let me quote your beloved Winston Churchill..."No American will think it wrong of me if I proclaim that to have the United States at our side was to me the greatest joy. I could not fortell the course of events. I do not pretend to have measured accurately the martial might of Japan, but now at this very moment I knew the United States was in the war, up to the neck and in to the death. So we had won after all! ... Hitler's fate was sealed. Mussolini's fate was sealed. As for the Japanese, they would be ground to powder."

I think this argument is closed.

This is true.

back to the topic.

No one wants to play a france map. If you want to conquer france just go do it in real life. Its not very difficult. Hell, i've done it three times this week!

1. Why is the "Right Arm" on the left?
2. Why are there 7 continents on the board but only 6 in the legend? (EDIT: I see you recognized this, so treat this as a reminder)
3. Until there are more natural boundaries and fewer borders this map is completely unplayable.
4. I agree with RockSolid about the names.
5. I doubt that BananaStomper conquered France 3 times this week since: a) it even took the Germans 5 weeks, and b) control of the country, as far as I know, still rests firmly in the hands of the unions and their underemployed members.
6. I propose that in addition to "attacking", a player may opt to place his forces "on strike" thereby rendering enemy forces in adjacent territories unable to function. In keeping with the theme, though, a player may only be able to place his forces "on strike" 90% of the time.
7. To reduce the number of territories you could merge all the territories in the southeast area of the map into one continent called "Vichy". I read that this large region once existed in French history and could add to the realism. (EDIT: Of course the "bonus" for this continent should be "0" and if a player controls all areas outside of this region he/she is immediately awarded the map in its entirety.)

ok then, my history / above statement was a bit wrong.

About the France map.

Can you make the french flag with a line of red stitching down one side and a line of blue stitching down the other, so that its predominatley white.

Can you also have the following options:

When attacking in this map for the defender to simply 'Shrug his shoulders, with arms being halfway raised from waist height' (Classic Galic response to most situations)

Halfway through the game, the game stops as the french farmers have blockaded all the ports.

During the hours of 13:00 - to 14:30, nothing happens as all the froggies are having lunch in outside terraces in bistros, bars and resturants and smoking Camel cigarettes.

During the hours of 17:30 - 20:45 nothing happens as the whole of France jumps into a renault clio, and rushes across town to have an illicit affair with someone half their age whilst listening to Sasha Distel on an eight track.

During the summer months, the french air traffic controllers go on strike and no one can move.

During autumn, the french truckers drive in convoy on all major roads at 20 Kph in protest at the new tax imposed on wearing sandals, and each go then takes 45 minutes.

Every now and then I want random outbreaks of student riots where your car is torched and your unable to move out of Paris.

Untill all of the above are implimented, the French map will bear no resemblence to the real France, and will be a fake.

Maybe Hitler thought the USSR had a set of mixed cards to trade in and wanted to attack them to take away their continent bonus before they traded them in... Turned out to be the wrong move and infact the Brits and USA had some cards and wiped him out...

-----------------

On topic again... I think that this wouldn't make a bad map, it has potential... Just take out a few countries and then the graphics (especially the legend) will need tweaking... Good work! Nice to see you putting something into this game... A bit like Community service lol :)

So anyway asides from retarded macho nationalism (nationalism blows by the way) and xenophobia... does anyone have anything to say about the map? How's it coming along anyway? Ignore the people who've posted stupid crap, just look at the poll.
