How do they not fit? They look pretty cartoonish to me. Maybe the colors don't work? idk, maybe if you had a suggestion we could make a change, or try it and see, because i don't see anything not fitting the theme of the map so i'm not even sure what to try here...

DiM wrote:5. the river in the upper right corner continues far outside the playing area but the river in philipsburg ends abruptly.

The upper right extends because it separates two states (NJ/NY), the one in P-Burg just goes into PA, no reason for it to keep going. Extending one OR shortening the other wouldn't really do much IMO. Plus, the upper right is empty, so the extension there works i think...

Going to have to disagree with you on this all the way around. The 3D fits (examples: (http://www.wildpostcards.com/wp-content/slng93/2008/09/greetings-from-atlantic-city-nj.jpg OR http://rlv.zcache.com/greetings_from_new_jersey_postcard-p239770204088223232envli_400.jpg). Secondly, the letters are filled with 'drawings', they are not filled with actual photos, a quick glance could show you that. they may look more sharp/detailed because they are smaller, but they are drawings, not photos.

they look painted. they have wet/soft edges. whereas all other icons are clearly defined with sharp edges.
they basically represent a different style compared to all other icons.

to be honest i'd like the top one shortened. i think it sticks too far out drawing attention to itself.

the 3d still doesn't fit. you've shown me 2 more postcards with the same style. yes in those postcards where the 3d title is the main attraction it fits because the writing is the main actor. but here the writing is a secondary element. the map itself is the center of our attention and the map doesn't have anything 3d. regardless of where you look everything is flat until you reach the title which is 3d. as for the images inside the letters it doesn't really matter if they're photos or extremely detailed and realistic drawings because at the scale they're represented on the map they look the same and they still contrast with the cartoons on the map.

it is my understanding it already passed graphics approval.

could we fix any XML issues and start playing this map already.

In Final Forge, minor graphic updates can still occur. Final Forge is for finish and polishing of all kinds.

I get what DiM is saying about the dirty border and that little bump, will be fixed. Other things we're just going to disagree on, hopefully we can get others to give some input/opinions...

About the mountains, I agree with both of you, they look nice but are very cuddly compared to the other icons. Sharpen the edges up? About the river, it could do with shortening. Title, not sure about this one so will leave that to you.

yes simple fixes...however, since this map has been in XML stages there has been periods of 3-5 weeks where no one has comments or checked it AND the most recent comments are graphic focused not XML.

Maybe I'm biased bc im anxious and waiting for a NJ map (something I had thought of doing as well)

Maybe I'm biased bc I know chaos

Maybe I understand why the small things are being pointed out, but at this stage it frustrates me. Especially after I have seen/played some other maps out there (and that is not a knock on those cartographers and creators necessarily). It seems that too many people have too many opinions about what to do and change and the creator's vision gets torn to shreds, sometimes probably a massive improvement, sometimes detrimental. Too many cooks spoils the stew...

After following this process closely though I can say is the interest I had in making maps is now very, very diminished.

the foundry is going through a very slow period and feedback is lacking everywhere. periods with 3-5 weeks of no commenting are unfortunately pretty common.
yes the map already has a graphics badge and it's in final forge but that doesn't mean graphics are over. in fact several maps have had complete graphic makeovers AFTER reaching final forge.the sad truth is that some maps get stamped for no merit and their graphics aren't up to par (we have some examples currently in the final forge and some more that are close by). luckily it's not the case here, the map looks good except for a few minor details which i've pointed out and which would only take tisha half an hour to fix.

Makes sense for maps to take a while to make it through the process to ensure quality maps are being produced

the new mountains are great, the crease in the paper is good.
the title is a step in the right direction but you kinda need to smooth the edges a bit as they're pixely in some spots.

one thing i noticed is that the red border is very inconsistent. it looks like you copied it from somewhere but when you erased the contents of whatever was inside you also touched the border.
notice how the black outline of the red border is all interrupted?

there are some minor details but it doesn't really matter at this point as i appear to be the only one interested in such details.
at this point in the foundry almost anything can pass through so if other maps which are completely inferior to this one are given a free pass then i honestly don't have the heart to bring up any more issues here.
if this were a more quality concerned foundry with higher standards maybe i'd bother but as it is right now this map is well above what seems to be considered the passing norm.
so as far as i'm concerned you're good for beta.
