I like the Kiwi bird, it breaks up a larger blue area.

The thicker dark blue around the bonus islands helps with the ocean too.

I like the Snow Mountains they look great =D>, and I would suggest using a similar look around MT Reupehu and Wellington Mountains.

A small note, the beefed up mountains makes the line between Miford Sound and Te Anau almost non-existant, but if that size border is acceptable then leave it.

When can we play :-)

Thanks nudge.
i'd rather leave the northern mountains un-snowed...i know the volcano gets some snow but tt's nowhere near as much as the southern alps.
i'll see about fixing the line between Te Anu and Milford.
Soon i hope for play.

Hey there ... actually a little snow on Mt Ruapehu (the single mountain to the upper right of the white circle - that is, the one closest to Lake Taupo) woudl be great because that is a very popular ski resort but yeah, leave the others without snow.

the mountains coloured by colour as region in which they lie do not look fine at some places. especialy between Kaikoura and M.V., Hurunui and Nelson Lakes.
could you use (maybe everywhere) mountains as are between Hurunui and A.P.?

just my two cents...

Oneyed...at some point i have to say no.
and my reasons are:
...that i have already re-done those mountains with colour as requested by isaiah40
...i have tried to gain a look that all the mountains are not the same hence i don't want to use one style everywhere
...space is an issue in some areas where mountains are going to be smaller than in other areas because they have to fit
...i am quite happy with these mountains as they are, as can i imagine others might be...
...we culd go on forever trying to satisfy requests for changes to mountains and that is not my intention to keep doing that
so i am going to cut this off now
...there are 14 different type of singular mountains used in this map and i think that is enough NZ flavour for anyone. :)
appreciate your post. :)

Have u considered using something less modern in place of the planes to keep with the old-world vibe of this map?

Thanks for the welcome, nice to see you are making a new map, very exciting, coming from a loyal fan :).
As far as the old-world feel, maybe its just me lol. I just see the kiwi bird and it looks like the illustrations in old dictionaries and such so maybe that's where I got the idea. The border gives me that impression as well. At any rate, only a suggestion of course, I'm sure it will be a wonderful map. Good Luck on it, it looks great so far!

More useless information: Air New Zealand started life as TEAL (Tasman Empire Airways Limited) in 1940 with five Lockheed Model 188 Electras:
Image
... and 7 Douglas DC-8s:
Image
... pictures are examples only and not kiwi planes.

Frankly, I like the graphic, it could be anything and could be even the most modern current plane, the Boeing 777:
Image.

Interestingly there are still 11 Lockheed Model 188 Electras still in service to this day - albeit none with Air New Zealand.

Thank-you thehippo8..for that forensic analysis (think that one's borrowed from Titanic...Mr Bodean LOL)

Here is first view of the large map...exactly 10% bigger than small at 880 x1100.

Is there anyone interested in having the tikis faces not just looking to the right?
Maybe left also :?:

I think that the tikis all facing the same way is good because if they were alternating the map would look too busy (aka eyestrain). The one thing that I do notice about the tikis is that they dont contrast much from the map color-wise. If anything, they blend. This may or may not be your intent, just thought I would add this point as input. :)

The short answer is no (and read here for instance) - but that wasn't the issue for me. I was just going on aesthetic.

Just wondering why Ruatoria and Taranaki start with 4 troops in their respective Tiki?
