Apart from the fact it brings completely different gameplay, it doesn't really offer much graphic-wise compared to the current map, if anything at all.

Also, am I the only person that dislikes maps full of many open bonuses?

As far as I know, it's not intended to replace the current France map.

Then it's a great map and I love you all. Bye. :D

As far as graphics - I'm trying help with the mountains. This map was created in Illustrator and I primarily work in photoshop. I roughly did some photoshop work last night - here's what I have. Triangle mountains just to get an idea of how the shadows work. You see It's going to be difficult to port just the mountains into that illustrator file.

I'm still thinking about this though.

The actual territories look nicer to be honest.

Looks really cool rjbeals.

One thing: I like the glow each bonus area has in the Lance image. Each bonus is visually distinct in more ways than one from the adjacent ones as a result of the way the glow terminates. Eh, I think it looks nice. I hope you know what I mean here.

Rjeals Sorry, I did not see that you answered in the forum.

I see you've started to draw the mountains. I'll clean my file and organize layers in a better way. So you will have less difficulty to insert the mountains. I think we should always keep working in Illustrator and keep the effects of design.

Thank you for your help. I send you the new file.

I agree Lancelot in that, you'll have a lot of hard work if you decide to redraw in photoshop whereas keep going under Illustrator...

I'll work on incorporating mountains into the IL file.

after you send me the most recent firle, If I have some time, can I clean up that IL file also? You have so much going on there it's very hard to work with. Your borders should be on 1 layer, all those layer masks need to go. I'll redraw the borders if that's what it takes (which I think it will). And I really think we can do a better job on the territory texture you have. Shall I try?

The smoother coasts are much better.
However, the colour of the line around the coast isn't quite right.

I agree with ManB on the coastline. It would look better if you remove the outline all together including the outline of the rivers.

Where the rivers go into the ocean, they need to be blended in so that you don't have a hard line of river and then ocean.

The "bridges" need to be done the old way of the region colors on them so they are easier to see.

The Foreign claims need to be subdued a tad as the 888's are a little hard to see on them.

The text on the regions need to be a tad bit bigger and darker. I say a pure black should do it. They are a bit hard to read, and when you do the small, they will be even harder.

That is it for now.

I reduced the thickness of the coastline. I prefer keep it.
For the border's river. I drop borders but I keep two borders for two rivers. See you the difference ? What do you prefer ?

RjBeals, may be, will draw the bridges.

I don't understand your suggestion.

Done. You prefer ?

WP Lance,

Personally, i like the way that the Seine River is done... It keep a much more natural way for me...

Looks like Gironde could be redone that way...

Increase the opacity of them so the army numbers are easier to see.

I would prefer no outline to to that blue outline. If you are going to use an outline use a color that is darker, like maybe grey.

I agree with this. Do all the rivers in this way!

I forgot to mention earlier about the Paris inset, you need to have the surrounding regions in it so we know where it is -for those of us who don't know exactly where Paris is.

I think the problem is I'm using Illustrator CS3. It's older than the version you are, so I'm getting every object in it's own layer - see the screenshot, It's not organized the way you spoke about.

Can't work with the file. Maybe save a copy as eps, or see if the save options allow to save as CS3 file?

The latest version here.

I work with RjBeals to the mountains. I have some difficulties because I worked with Illustrator software and it works with photoshop.

Does anyone has a tip?

Yep, both of you can convert to GIMP. ;)

But apart from that, not a clue as I have never used either for very long.

In the CS3 format, the quality is a little worse, some effects do not exist in this version. But it's ok, you have the good file now!
