The font you're using for the title is a bit rubbish though - I preferred the Sans Serif version to the one just above this; there's also no reason to colour the bottom of the E red? The coastlines could do with a certain 'je nais cest quoi' too!

Agreed!

When can we expect the next update? It has been a month since the last one. I'll leave this here for a few more days then I will have to move it to the Recycling Bin.

Lancelot du Lac, very little if anything at all left to do to this, so how about a small map now. Have you discussed the size of the small with anyone? If not, before you start it, go and PM isaiah40 ask for his guidance.

about mountains
Alps are good the others are more boring
work on them with size and orientation variation
watch out near Pays Basque you have old style mountains remaining

Another thing about the mountains is that the shadow is on both sides. This needs to be solved.

It seems to me that the size was discussed at the beginning of the discussion and the choice was decided to make a big map. I'll find the post!

You need to make a small map to.

What size do I need for a small map?

Is it enough just to reduce the size of the current map?

Thanks for your help

between 75% and 67%
watch out you may need more than just a linear reducing
some elements may need to be redrawn
text particularly

Lancelot, this is getting close. As koontz mentioned the mountains still need some work. Take a look at my Fractured America and Fractured China maps. See how I alternated the mountains so they look more like a mountain range rather that one mountain that was copy and pasted? I used 3 or 4 different mountains and staggered them, and made them bigger or smaller. This is what I want you to do.

As for the small map, all you need to do is reduce the map down to 686x695 and you should be fine. Though I would increase the size of the Paris Inset a bit to fit the 888's in it easier. When you reduce the size, you will also need to make sure that the text is readable. I would go with a pure black color, and increase the size by 1 size. For Corse this is what I recommend for the placement of the 888's:

In this way you have room for the number and you can increase the text size.

I would use the pure black color for the text on both the small and large maps as it will make it easier to read.

When you get the small done, use Vischeck to test the map for colorblindness (yes koontz Vischeck is now working!). Then post the colorblind test in one spoiler in the first post, and here on the last page. Once all that is done we can get this stickied and on its way into the Final forge!!

Isn't it the role of the map designer to choose that? If we like it that way?

Thanks for your tips anyway =D>

It is but no map gets made without input from others. You cannot reject a suggestion with the premise of I do not want it as it is my map. If you can come up with a good suggestion of why your mountains are better the way they are, you can keep them.

But I think you will find that you will not be able to. Better to do some work on them and break up the appearance.

Still wondering what the heck this little white line is doing there.

And on the mini map tone down the outer glow a pixel or 2 down, its just a shade too much.

Still looking, but two things you need to do. Post some colour blind checks (map tools) of the map and place 888 numbers onto both maps. Use different coloured numbers all over the map.

3rd post above yours is the color blind tests koontz. I guess you skimmed the thread again! ;)

Use version 1 of the small map. On the small you can enlarge the Paris inset to make sure the 888's will fit nicely. Other than these couple of small things, this is just about ready to get moved into the Final Forge!!

If you still can't figure out how to put these on, ask koontz or isaiah, lol. I'm not a graphics guy
