Gameplay - Regular:

Regular Eurasia has 131 regions, 25 bonus areas (of which 14 form 7 pairs that share a region) which also form 7 superbonuses.

Starting neutrals: Ireland & Hainan: 3, Egypt & South Nei Mongol: 2

Starting positions for 2 player games only:
Position 1 - Spain, Switzerland, Poland, Astana, Nepal, Henan;
Position 2 - France, Austria, Qaraghandy, Austria, Assam, Shandong.
The other regions in 2-player games start normally, but these sets of regions are guaranteed to be starting with 3 armies and are assigned to both players as wholes.

Region bonus is 1 for every 4 regions, with a minimum of 3 and maximum of 10. That means that after 40 regions, you don't get a higher region bonus.

2 player games start with 44 regions each, and 43 neutrals.
3 player games start with 42 regions each, and 5 neutrals.
4 player games start with 31 regions each, and 7 neutrals.
5 player games start with 25 regions each, and 6 neutrals.
6 player games start with 21 regions each, and 5 neutrals.
7 player games start with 18 regions each, and 5 neutrals.
8 player games start with 15 regions each, and 11 neutrals.

Gameplay - Mini:

The mini version has 27 regions, which form 7 bonus areas. Each region corresponds to a bonus area on the regular Eurasia map (except Central India and Philippines), and each bonus area corresponds to a superbonus on the regular Eurasia map.

No starting neutrals.

Starting positions for 2-3 player games:
Position 1 - West India, Indochina, European Russia, Central Siberia
Position 2 - Central India, Indonesia, East Europe, West Siberia
Position 3 - East India, Philippines, Southeast Europe, East Siberia

2 player games start with 10 regions each, and 7 neutrals.
3 player games start with 9 regions each, no neutrals.
4 player games start with 6 regions each, and 3 neutrals.
5 player games start with 5 regions each, and 2 neutrals.
6 player games start with 4 regions each, and 3 neutrals.
7 player games start with 3 regions each, and 6 neutrals.
8 player games start with 3 regions each, and 3 neutrals.

Mini maps are nice. If this one becomes smaller than an average map like classic is the question. Smaller names (SE Europe) would save size.

The small map will be less wide than small classic, but about the same / slightly higher height.

This map will be 500x464 at small, while small Classic is 630x420.

Anyway, after a suggestion from a certain somebodies, I merged Japan & Korea and added some sea routes.

Hmm... If you do pursue the Eurasia map to completion, I doubt that we need two Eurasia maps on the site. At a glance I'd say it isn't going to be unique enough to warrant continuation.

Right, not like we need two maps of europe, or four world maps, or seventy zillion USA maps...

There's been lots of talk of making smaller maps for people who play CC on mobile devices, and I figured that making miniature versions of larger maps would be a good way to achieve that. Besides, small maps are all the rage right now.

Anyway, this is just an idea, and I'll let the CA:s figure out whether this is something that should be pursued.

Personally, I think this is something that could be beneficial for CC in the future, when more and more people want to use CC on mobile devices.

Good point, let me run it by the others.

So, while we're waiting for the decision from CA:s...

I'd like to get some input from people who use phones/other mobile devices to play CC... Mainly, is 500 x 464 a small enough image to be convenient to play?

For comparison, Doodle earth is 600 x 450 as the small version. Classic is 630 x 420.

Same here - by phone or by pc

;)

I'd probably play Eastern hemisphere instead of the bg version.

Whatever happened to the new, big Asia map?

Well, that's your choice, and that's the good thing about CC, everyone can choose what maps they want to play. I bet there will also be people who won't touch this one with a shitty stick while they'll love the main Eurasia map.

However, just to make things clear: This map is totally dependent of the larger one and will not be made without it. Without the context provided by the "real" Eurasia map, there's no point in making this one.

I've never made such a map, so that is probably a subject for some other thread.

Can you take your attempts at antagonization to some other thread? It's not appreciated here. Thank you.

I am not trying to make enemies here. I would of called you pretentious but that would assume you have no talent, however, you do. One poster said he'd play this map more than your other map. Completely valid comment but you slapped it away like a fly with your response. Therefore, I called you an ass. To stay on topic, good looking map.

And I basically told him that's fine if that's what they want to do. I frankly don't see why you have a problem with that. However, if you do, you can be civil and make a coherent argument, instead of coming in and calling people names - that's not a good way to make your point in any circumstance, and we don't appreciate that kind of behaviour here.

The graphics are lovely and the colours have a good balance with the texture of the map. However, the colours are overly saturated.

A couple of minor issues.

Image

The 'E' of 'East India' is overlapping a regional line and is affecting legibility.

One other issue is the lack of impassable boundries. With some regions (West Siberia, Kazakhstan, West China) bordering THREE separate bonus regions, and a fair few regions bordering two bonus regions, it will be quite difficult for anyone to hold a bonus down. I do understand, however, that this is still in early development.

Thanks for the feedback Nesoi! Good to see new faces in the foundry.

Nesoi wrote:The graphics are lovely and the colours have a good balance with the texture of the map. However, the colours are overly saturated.

I have to ask, what makes you reach that conclusion? I don't really understand... Overly saturated, compared to what?

Nesoi wrote:The 'E' of 'East India' is overlapping a regional line and is affecting legibility.

Ok. This grave injustice shall be fixed! ;)

Nesoi wrote:One other issue is the lack of impassable boundries.

I've been thinking about it, and currently I feel like I'm not going to be adding any impassables on this map. It's too small for impassables to make any sense, gameplay-wise or thematically. The openness is actually a positive thing for a map of this size, a more closed gameplay structure would make the game too dependent on the drop.

However, if the openness bothers you, you might enjoy the non-mini version more, which is in the main foundry, here: viewtopic.php?f=241&t=159163
