will care more about grammar ;)
I used during 1992 because it was long and complicated process. everything as finance, army... must be divided. and only in Jan 1, 1993 it was official and this is also date of creating new states Czech republic and Slovak republic.

so could we find any final version? thanks for help

Oneyed

See my edited post above. I think everyone understands that it was a complicated process and not something that was done in 1 day. "During" just doesn't sound right though.

Only if you think this is improvement...

this is your advice. I used it except "In 1992" I used "During"...

Oneyed

Oneyed. I am still seeing a story which says "...become to valid..."

Also, I think you need to elaborate a little more, perhaps one more sentence on why they decided to do that, or the actual result of their agreement. Something like that.

I actually don't beleive this is necessary to elaborate...if people want to find out more there is always Google or other search engines.
The map is about fragmentation of said country...it has bonuses for both republics...therefore the result must be that the state was divided :)

Well then why put the sentence in there at all then?

I can't find cairnswk's version.

I like xraiders though:
"During the year 1992 the Czech and Slovak Governments made the decision to divide the common state. The dissolution took effect on January 1st, 1993."

"...to divide the common state."

And it's "dissolution". You have an extra "on" on the end of it. Why don't you just make it "division", since you use "divide" in the previous sentence?

Hello Oneyed/cairns,

I checked your XML and found an error.

On the map, it reads: Region and 2 towns inside its border, +4 for every 2 Kraj (similar to SR part of map).
In the XML, it stops at 2 Kraj. Are you not supposed to be given a +8 bonus if you have 4 Kraj?

Similar to capital: +1 for every 4 towns in CR, -1 for each Kraj in SR.
This bonus also stops at 4 towns and 1 Kraj. Should you not be given +2 for 8 towns in CR, and -2 for each Kraj in SR, held along with the capital? Example, if I hold Bratislava and 4 CR Kraj, according to current XML I get -2, but the way I read it you should get -4.

cairns could you check xml ones more? it looks that Giligan is right.
also borders for Praha are: Kladno, Beroun, Tábor, StČK
and borders for Bratislava are: Kúty, Trenčín, Nitra, ZSK

is it not clear that capital could be attacked from region it is located in and from towns in the same region and from towns adjacent by railway?

thanks Giligan

Do you need to write something on the map about this?

no. I just ask you because your xml seems that you understand it wrong. so do you think that it is needed to write about this on the map?

Oneyed,
the way i read it is that the + and - bonus is associated with each capital.
Is this right or wrong?

Yeah. For example,

Code: Select all
<continent>
<name>Praha and 2 Kraj (SR)</name>
<bonus>-2</bonus>
<components>
<continent>Praha (CR)</continent>
<continent>2 Kraj (SR)</continent>
</components>
<overrides>
<override>Praha and 1 Kraj (SR)</name>
</overrides>
</continent>

where you would need to create a new continent for 2 Kraj (SR).
------------------------------------------------------------------------
For CR you need to only do it three times because there are 7 Kraj
For SR also 3 times (1 requires a bonus and there is up to 3 possibility)

Code: Select all
<continent>
<name>Bratislava and 8 Towns</name>
<bonus>2</bonus>
<components>
<continent>Bratislava (SR)</continent>
<continent>8 Towns (SR)</continent>
</components>
<overrides>
<override>Bratislava and 4 Towns</name>
</overrides>
</continent>

Where here you'd need an 8 Towns bonus.
---------------------------------------------------------
There are 15 towns in CR, so you need to do only 3 for CR.
Same number for SR - 9 towns at 3 each is 3 bonuses.

this is right. when you hold capital in the CR you get +bonuses for towns in CR, BUT -bonuses for Kraj in the SR.

what about connections to capitals? is this clear?

The way I read it,

With Praha, you get + bonus for CR territs and - bonus for SR territs.
With Bratislava, it is opposite: + bonus for SR territs and - bonus for CR territs

OK, there are 7 Kraj...so that means there can only be 3 pairs of Kraj
so bonus should be:
+12 for 3 pairs
overrides
+8 for 2 pairs
overrides
+4 for 1 pair

Correct?

Perfecto. Similar logic can be applied to the capital bonuses.

Yeah, I specified which ones :D

The way I look at it, if you own towns in which your capital is located - it's a good thing. If you own the enemy with your own capital, it's a bad thing.

Gilligan, with these Czech override pairs....is it possible to use the new collections code, e.g.

Code: Select all
    <continent>
    <name>ConName</name>
    <bonuses>
    <bonus required="2">4</bonus>
    <bonus required="3">8</bonus>
    <bonus required="4">12</bonus>
    </bonuses>
   <components>
      <continent>SČK Kraj (CR)</continent>
      <continent>ZČK Kraj (CR)</continent>
      <continent>StČK Kraj (CR)</continent>
      <continent>VČK Kraj (CR)</continent>
      <continent>JČK Kraj (CR)</continent>
      <continent>SMK Kraj (CR)</continent>
      <continent>JMK Kraj (CR)</continent>
   </components>
    </continent>

although from reading the new xml tutorial, i am confused because it says collections can be used for overrides
If you have ever used nested continents for one of your map, you certainly have experienced how long that continents list can be and how many overrides you had to use to give out bonuses correctly.
This issue can be circumvented using a different way to code your bonuses: Collections.

but then says
There some important aspects to consider while using Bonus Collections:
* If you achieve several bonuses they get added together;

so from this i am reading that i still have to use overrides.

Yes, I meant to mention that but forgot. You can also use it for the other bonuses:

Code: Select all
<continent>
<bonuses>
<bonus required="1">-1</bonus>
<bonus required="2">-2</bonus>
<bonus required="3">-3</bonus>
</bonuses>
<components>
<component type="mandatory">Praha</component>
<component>VSK Kraj</component>
<component>SSK Kraj</component>
<component>ZSK Kraj</component>
</components>
</continent>

The overrides are built into the code. If you have "1" required, it'll give you the "1" bonus, but if you have "2" required it'll automatically override the "1" bonus, likewise if you have "3" it'll override "2" and "1".
