I think it's an issue with the graphics on the small map. On the large version there's an attack line. Either way good catch.

As far as I can tell there is another graphical error between the large and small maps, which you may have already fixed ?...

Oberon and JG-U do not have a connecting line on the small map.

Solar System in need of an Update!

PostPosted: Sat Apr 18, 2009 9:56 pm

The current Solar System map has two kuiper belt objects that are still using their original numerical names. I guess that since the map was originally made the scientists decided on the actual names, because I looked them up and found them.

136472 is now called Makemake, after the creator of humanity and god of fertility in the mythos of the Rapanui, the native people of Easter Island.
And 136108 is now Haumea, after the matron goddess of the island of Hawai'i.

Just thought I should bring this to the attention of the map making community. I'm a big fan of the map, I just felt it should be properly up to date.

It would be far more work to update it then it would help.

It was a good idea but sadly this isn't happening

Because of the need to edit the code, or changing the map?

There's no reason this change couldn't be made (depending on whether or not the original mapmaker and files are still around)...

Well you would need someone to fix the map and the XML and then get lack to change it...
But if they are willing, why not?

The link to the PSD is in the 1st post, so the change could be made relatively easily even without the original mapmaker.

Thanks for doing this hecter/killing =D>

Killing - did you just do a find and replace in the XML? The order wasn't changed or anything?

The text for Makemake was slightly out of alignment (for some reason the text was fractionally rotated (in a different direction on each version).

The final updated images are here, and ready to go...

i actually prefer the numbers myself, too, for what it's worth. they make you feel more like you're at the edges of the solar system...
