Re: Territories switched on new British Isles map (BUG)

Postby MrBenn on Wed Jan 21, 2009 5:34 pm

The problem was caused by a slight change in the territory order in the XML. A corrected version of the XML has been submitted to lackattack, and will be uploaded as soon as he gets it.

Thanks for your patience,

MrBenn ;-)

Also, when u attack oxon on the new map, where u select which place u want to attack, it has oxfordshire instead of oxon, and this probably happened to other places as well

Look at the key … Oxon = Oxfordshire

I went from really liking this map, to not wanting to play it. The colors are all washed out. There is little contrast between the lettering and the background. The entire thing is 'whitish.'

The old one was great.

It´s fixed now, and all armies are back to where they are supposed to be.

Thanks. :)

I agree that it is too pale, but it's not bad when you get the armies on it. :) It's also easier to tell where the territory borders are than on the old one.

Very nice job!

In case no one has yet mentioned (very long thread), "oxon" is still listed as "oxfordshire" in the xml.

Why Revamp a map that had nothing wrong with it?

I think overall more users like the revamp over the original. There's the nostalgia thing to get over, but the old one got many many complaints on how hard it was to tell borders.

I think the Man in the Moon will come down and sing me a song if I just dance harder for him. But that doesn't make it so.
Only British Isles game I'm in right now is a 6 player game, and 4 of us have already commented on not liking the change.
The other two haven't chatted since the change took place. That's a 66.666% disapproval rating so far.

There's the nostalgia thing to get over, but the old one got many many complaints on how hard it was to tell borders.

There's already an easy fix to that, clicking "Larger Map".....

Not that it matters all that much- but I would just like to phone my two cents in and say that I love how the map looks now. British Isles was the first map I learned after Classic and it therefore remains in my top three maps of all time. Though I didn't have a problem with the other version, I love the new version in every way. Not until I saw this work of art did I realize how outdated and messy the original truly was.

Thanks for making one of my favorite maps even better :)

The new British isles map is not good for me.

The colors are worse than the ORIGINAL British isles (too pale for my taste),
The names are changed and harder to remember,
The boundaries of the territories are more fragmented,...

Maybe everything is more correct and more technically better, but ...

... I URGE YOU TO RETURN THE ORIGINAL MAP

The revamp is really, really good, gimil. Thank you, well done.

It's got nothing to do with arrogance. It's all about respect.
gimil has been on this revamp for over a year. The topic has been here for the whole time aswell. And the map wasn't quenched before all discussions were cleared up. If he hates this map so bad, first of all he should have come here to comment on the drafts. And now that it's quenched he's too late and pissed about it. That's not the way to go.
I don't mind people having a different opinion. But you could come here and say
