Re: New Version British isles Map Typos?

Postby ManBungalow on Sat Feb 14, 2009 5:09 pm

They're not typos; the abbeviations are explained in the legend. I agree that the name in the drop-down list should come up as "Oxon/Oxfordshire" to make it clearer.

This should probably be moved to the foundry discussion or merged with the discussion thread.

It's not "Oxen" (it's Oxon, CLICK HERE for more info), but I think the abbreviations are fine as they are to be honest. If people can't be bothered to read the map legend when they're playing CC they shouldn't be playing at all.

How about an apology for that insult.

Stop being so defensive.

I was talking in general - if people don't read the legends before they play a map it's their fault. I didn't click this topic with some preset knowledge that this happened to you. :-$ You didn't mention in the topic that you made this mistake, so how was my "insult" aimed at you?

Seem to be having a few complaints about this naming of territories. I may just change the XML to show both the abbreved version and full version.
What do you know about map making, bitch?

Very quick and simple suggestion

can Lincolnshire be renamed "East Midlands"

why? just being specific as i am from the East midlands and lincolnshire is not at all the most important place there, also as you have midlands and west midlands, why not east midlands...makes it easier for those who are not from uk to locate places.

I'd just like to add that I think this is a great map (although my own county isn't named :o ) and that I've enjoyed every game I've played on this map so far - win or lose!

Thank you to all who played a part in creating it.

I just took a look at this map again. It looks like shit, how did it ever get out of the foundry?

I have to say it - why is the Severn a mountain range? Why do the Scottish Highlands stop so far north? Where are the Pennines?

Also, a minor naming issue - the area you've called "Westmorland" is better known as Cumbria or the Lake District. I've lived in Manchester (mid-Lancashire, by this map) for as long as I can remember and spent several summers in Cumbria, and never heard of Westmorland before the game log told me it had been taken off me lol
