It will ber interesting to see what some of the strong holds are. I'm sure no one will be able to hold the ice cap for much longer than as a rout of transportation.

the map looks clean and playable, but other than that why would anyone decide "hey, it'd be fun to play a game in which I take over the arctic circle."

If you could plunge the entire map into darkness for half of the turns, then you'd have something. :)

Water isnt very good as andy said.

Think the bonus for Scandnavia is fine, 4 countries and 2 borders is a bonus of 4.

I think you should rename Asian Russia just Asia, as thats what it is. I think you could amalgamate some of your territories in Asian Russia. Madagan should be a part of another territory. Maybe you could make a territory of Hokkaido or Japan in the top left hand corner to get away from all the russian territories (something like half the territories you have are russian).

I have changed the ocean, added Hokkaido, merged Madagan with East Sakha, and added army shadows. I have posted two versions, one with a small ice cap, the other with a large ice cap, please tell me which one you like better. The only playability difference is that in the big ice cap version, the North Pole borders Komi.

And Yamalia. Anyway, I think we can use the small cao and remove some of those routes.

Hmm...missed Yamalia. Anyways, it seems that i can only remove Russian ice to East Sakha route and the North Pole to Elsemere Island Route so i dont hinder movability around the map to much.

i prefer the big ice cap, it looks more realistic

and now we have a conflict. I guess i'll run a poll on it and see what people think. Just one question...is there a way to change the poll i have on now or do i have to make another topic to do this?

PM a mod (aka me), with the changes you would like made.

As for the small or large...I agree with Dublin, the large looks much more realistic. But if you made the small...less circular...and more...'ice capish'? it might feel real. :)

Link Hokkaido with Kamchatka. big ice cap is much better. Your going to have a north symbol in the centre pointing every way right?

I like the large ice cap for aformentioned reasons.

Sorry if it's been mentioned, but I feel the N. Islands bonus needs to be increased to 4. I'm not even sure if that is enough, 5 countries with 5 borders!?

I really like the map though, looks great.

4 borders. But, in fact, it would be easily corrected to 3 if we use the small ice cap

Then he NEEDS to make it look like an Ice cap.. and get rid of the straight lines on it too.. they loook bloody awful.

I'd like it better if the ice cap didn't look like a fat person slicing a meat pie. If you made it smaller, at all, from this point on, raving liberals are going to jump on you and stick Al Gore's movie in your face. :)

Heres the new version; since most people prefered the large ice cap, thats what I'll use. Changes ive made are:

1. Linked Hokkaido with Kamchatka
2. North Pole no longer borders Elsemere Island
3. Lines on the ice cap are no longer straight.

I hate when everyone blames humans for everything. It's a cyclical change, I tell you. Cyclical change!

I like all changes. Maybe you should change the ocean routes to give it a more icy feel (instead of tropical orange).

Lets take a quick look...

One thing I notice right away...perhaps tone down the Red in the Bonus legend a little, to match the continent.

Also, I like your conservation of space...though I do wish your title was a little bigger. But I don't know if you can rectify that and make it bigger.

I thought I remembered reading something about leaving the Ice Cap like the 'seas' in the Alexander map or the Quad in the CCU map...perhaps I was fabricating things in my mind.

Lastly, visual and such wise, I've never been a fan of 'Directional Area' continent names. North/South Alaska. North/South Greenland. If at all possible, see if there are any other names you can use, but considering these are just a few, it's only a minor gripe.

    Asia
  • 13 Countries, 6 Borders, Bonus of 8
  • ---Can make it an easy 5 Borders by grabbing Russian Ice Cap
    European Russia
  • 8 Countries, 5 Borders, Bonus of 6
  • ---Tougher to limit borders here without grabbing a few neighboring countries, but tantalizing expansion possibilities are around
    Scandinavia
  • 4 Countries, 2 Borders, Bonus of 2
  • ---Nice little stronghold continent
    Europe
  • 6 Countries, 3 Borders, Bonus of 3
  • ---Another little stronghold continent
    North America
  • 9 Countries, 4 Borders, Bonus of 5
  • ---Nice holding continent, with some expansion possibilities in the N. Islands
    North Islands
  • 5 Countries, 3 Borders, Bonus of 3
  • ---Similar to Europe, perhaps better expansion possibilities in N. America
    Ice Cap
  • 3 Countries, 3 Borders, Bonus of 3
  • ---Making the Ice Cap worth 3 can make for some interesting battles in the center land...perhaps a hotly contested area.

Over all, I like the distribution of countries, and how things are coming along!

I dont deny, it isnt partly due to a cycle.. but it is also hugely impacted by humans.
