Version 4.
The result of the poll is those 18 who voted - a majority want to go with the lanterns.
So, here are some immediate changes....

1. New font - Arial for legibility
2. Small movements in the legend
3. Color change to the Foreigners lanterns
4. 65% glow applied around the text names.
5. Eunuchs colour on terts increased in intensity to match what is in he legend
6. Tower names left off map previously - now applied.
7. Flags moved inside the 8 Nation Alliance houses

To do:
1. Bonuses
2. Apply same style to all Emperor's images

A few grammar corrections:
- You typoed E. Pao, putting E. Poa instead
- On the left when referring to the emperor attack routes, you say mendian instead of median

Also, I'm not sure on the attack routes on the outer bonuses. Is it only the immediate adjacent territory, or every single one that it connects to? The solid un-ending lines confuse me.

Gates and the Tower bonuses I think are fine. Each one can be attacked so I think you did a good job on those.

I think the gradens (If there are only two, I have a hard time telling) should be knocked down to 1 or 2.

All the other bonuses look good to me. I like the way its going. Keep up the Good Work.

I just have a problem.
The colors in the Legends and hard to match up with the colors on the Map.
And Priests 1 is the wrong color but I am sure you saw that.

well i will try to give some opinion.
1.Font OK,but i notice that its to light text,can you put to be more darken,like K Tang Army.
2.No idea
3.Hmm,again text need to be darken.
4.Dont know what i supouse to say.

Abouth Bonuses,well mine policy is to not mess in maker decision for bonuses,after all you will better know what is best for map.I belive that you have some formula for creating bonuses value,so aim ok with that. ;)

Changes apart from comments below:
1. Widened passageway for E Po.
2. moved eastern and western walls out to give eunuchs more room
3. moved the Emperors to centre them
4. added text to poa description
5. moved northern gate names
6. background colour change to legend
6. background change to map - now yellow

yes that is Meridian, i think i've fixed the kerning on that but let me know if it's still unclear.

these should be more clear now as i have double the line edges where these join, but i will be targeting these joins for special graphics, so watch this aspect.

gardens should be fixed now. the garden bonus i'd like to keep at 3 as there are some 5 significant borders there in the IMperial Garden not to mention the 2 on West Garden

Graphically, I'm a bit bothered with the color palette. It seems too dried out, like you left this map out in the boiling Aussie sun for a couple days on accident. I'm aware that a burnt red and golden yellow are Forbidden City du jour, but is there anyway the colors could be less faded?

Also, the text is suffering from major squeeze problems. Yes there's space for army counts, but there are abbreviations galore (most around the word Imperial), making understanding the map's flow much more difficult.

Finally, the borders on the lanterns, now that I can see them, will be so difficult for anybody to pick up on at first. I'm glad you have a very unique connector coming around that will make them more explicit.

the countries all have glow of red, but that probably needs changing.
i think the font ist still not right for this map, so will experiment more.

Edit: Qwert, is this font better to read, it is uniformly bold all around the map

I can read,but need to be more bold(what text font you use?),also one letter of Imperial kitchen(n) is in other terittory.Also bonus background colour,have not good influence on Bonus text,try to find some diferent colour who will give better look on Bonus box.

All of the colors on the map seem more faded than they have to be. If you saturated the entire thing a little bit more, I think it'd look better.

only way to bold this is to double up the font graphic as it is already bold. That will have to wait until the final versions come out. Font used is called "short hand".

below are two versions.... one with a 25% saturation applied. definitely a difference but is it too much and will it be too much for players eyes.

The sidebar legend gets a little bit too eye-popping with the saturation, but the rest of the map looks much better with it. I would daresay make it 40% saturation on the playable area.

The saturated version looks way better. I agree with Tack - maybe even saturate it more. But desaturate the legend area a bit if you do so.

2. Do the new connecting lines work for you and are you able to tell where they border each other?

The new legend colors are wonderful!

I think I get the attack lines now...tell me if I got it right: Chinese Christians can attack Inland Missions and Wu Chow. Yuan Shih-kai can attack Wu Chow. Wu Chow can attack Yuan Shih-kai, Emps. Tau Hsi, Li Yuan-hung, Prince Juan, and Chinese Christians.

If I got those right, I think I understand it now. If not, I'm totally lost.
