This may be before the rules but rules should affect all things before as well as after. For example, all old maps (with the exception of USA) had to have a large and small.

Yeti, name a valid reason why this map should not be changed?

I can't stand this map. Probably my least favorite. Simply because it's just so confusing what borders what. For a vector based map, it could have been done so much better.

In-fact by modern standards this map would still be in Ideas

If you'd like to debate the rules here is the appropriate thread:

viewtopic.php?f=127&t=25569&start=240&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

If you want to take a stab at remaking W2.1 to fit the size rules and/or make it clearer/prettier go nuts. I've made the illustrator files available and I agree that the graphics standards on CC have improved immensely since W2.1 was made. I think it was up to the standards of it's time but the bar has been raised. Only thing I care about is that the game play remain the same, that zimbabwe retains it's italics, that I get appropriate credit for creating the original and that you send me a link to the foundry revamp topic so that I can add my $0.02 where appropriate.

Cheers,

Zim

This map does need a revamp. I would really like to see a competition for this. It would be awesome. The only problem I would see with it is that the CC community might start complaining like they did with the classic revamp.

I would love to see you (RjBeals) do the revamp, since, in my opinion, you are one of the best mapmakers here, but if you don't want to nobody should try to force you. I'm just saying you of all mapmakers could really make this map even greater than it already is.

Just thought I'd throw in that this has been my favorite map for around a year now :) Massive props to the author.

8 player standard flat rate games are a blast! (and they take forever lol)

Just out of sheer curiosity (and I'm sure this has been answered before, sorry ><) but why is Zimbabwe italicized?

No. But you can print it and laminate it yourself.

hold that thought!

by now, some admin has seen this comment. they will soon be contacting WM, keeper of the shop. He'll be able to redirect you to the conquerclub store, and within a few weeks, maps on real cardboard will be sold at the low low price of $25.99!

or you can be super nerds, get your laptops together, and have a lan party at your place for free....(well, not counting the electric bill)

The "Zim" in Zimbabwe is italicized as the author's signature (his name is Zim).

You need to get in touch with ZiM and ask if he has a flattened hih res version, then print it out and stick it together, I've done it with what im trying to make and its alot of fun to play on a board that isn't the usual one, just keep in mind that if you decide to have cards your going to have to make all of them too.
