Version 47:
Made a lot of graphical touchups throughout the map - some aesthetic, some functional.
  • Branched out MAX stops with only 1 connected neighborhood.
  • Redrew some territory lines and added better background texture.
  • Redrew Ladd's Addition.
  • Tidied up the legend.
I will update the XML soon and move the MAX numbers to the white section of the stops.

PS - I will also move Beaverton MAX stop inward a bit. It looks awkward right now.

Very unfair advantage for the first player, but probably a rare occurence (first I've encountered it). Definitely notable with the rose/brew bonus at 7.

Is this significant enough to need fixing and, if so, does anyone have a suggestion?

*Actually, I now have two active games where we both dropped with a rose & brew bonus.

I have one criticism...

The trees in forest park look a bit two-dimensional. Kind of like cardboard cut outs... Maybe you could try to make them a bit rounder, if you know what I mean?

Yeah, and they have a different perspective. Actually on the map everything has a bird's-eye view, except those trees.

Some regions seem to have some pixelation on the edges: left side of OMSI, right side of Chinatown and right side of Pioneer...

On the map it is said that the Bike Paths go to 2 neutral when hold, but in games I see them going to 1 neutral.

I'd like to agree with J_Indr's comments (made on Jan 23rd), would it be possible to make the trees in the Forest Park territory not look so much like impassables? Until i studied the legend closely I had definitely assumed that Forest Park wouldn't connect to Nob Hill, Sylvan Heights, or Washington Park just based on the map graphics.

For the rose and microbrew bonuses, I think they need to be lower. 7 is a lot. I think 5 would be good.

I don't think dropping them will be common enough to justify making them start neutral. It's 4 terts you have to get, not the best odds to drop and then go first as well.

This was previously 5, but it was raised to make the bonus more attractive.

I've now had 3 games with a rose/brew drop. I imagine it only happens in 1v1, but it is pretty unfair. I'm just not sure what to do about it.

I'm not sure those are the only options. There was an issue with the rose/brew bonus before and simply reverting back to that doesn't seem all that helpful. Hopefully, we can come up with another options.

In the meantime, there are several outstanding graphic issues which I have addressed with this recent update, so I'd like to focus on that for a minute and come back to this bonus issue.

Before I send the updated images to lackattack, can I ask you if you can remove that black pixel in the third square from the top, on the left side of the portland airport region? I know it's small but I noticed it in a second. O:)

I never found the roses and beer bonuses an issue. Lowering the bonus a little to 5 may be a good idea though.

It seems the last issue that needs to be resolved are the rose/brew bonuses. There have been a lot of suggestions (from 5 to 10).

5 seems too low to make the bonus attractive. 7 seems too high for good drops.

I'm inclined to split the difference and go with 6 troops for holding either the rose or brew territories.

Would that works for everyone?
