The map looks great, but if you're aiming for accuracy, it's going to be hard, especially for the year 1500. Many of the names you gave Indian groups were given by Europeans when they encountered and/or learned about them, which happened much later than 1500. Names like "Crow" "Blackfeet" "Nez Perce" and "Pawnee" that don't have their origins in a native language reflect this. I don't know how to resolve this, but it's just an observation. I guess my point is it seems like you're trying to depict the continent before the sustained impact of white people, empires, and modern nations, and so the name thing might get in the way. It might not be important to you however.

Some of the groups in 1500 didn't occupy the areas where you have them. The Comanche are a Shoshone-related group that immigrated to the southern plains in the 1700s to take advantage of the buffalo economy. The Choctaws weren't really an entity until after 1500, and the Seminoles weren't around until well into the 18th century. These are only a few examples. It might take a little research.

I like the idea.

Long-ranging sea routes will be hard, REAL hard for 1500.

By the way, I think you mean the "Flatheads" and not the "Flatfeet." They weren't infamous for being a clumsy, awkwardly-moving people.

I will definetly be keeping an eye on your progress through the foundry this time round!

East of the mississippi there were confederations of tribes. You should use the confederate names on account of the many various tribes that made up the differernt nations there. I believe that the Seminoles were one of the few tribe not involved in any federation but most east coast tribes were involved in one.

I'm just glad you recognized my tribe, Nez Perce.

Native America

72 territories
11 bonus regions

-I'm still working on names of territories, and probably will be for quite a while.. any information there helps..
-I added some sea routes.
-I took a territory out of the east of the Mississippi, and added one to MesoAmerica.
-I darkened a couple of the lands to make them easier to tell apart.
-I would like the rivers to be not passable, so I made them more noticeable. I also changed the flow of one of the rivers so i could use it as a border.

i'm not sure what to do about the time colored islands, like the one just south of Netsilik

1.What does the territory on Victoria Island belong to? Is it a separate territory itself?
2.What does the territory on Southampton Island belong to? Is it a separate territory itself?
I don't think Newfoundland should touch Labrador on the map. A sea route to connect them might be better.
The territories of several continents are quite interesting. They're separated from the main territories of their continent (kinda reminds me of Kansas in American Civil War and Kaliningrad in Europa) :D

great start for a map - this idea has surfaced a few times in the past but has never had decent graphics to back it up.

Is the river (mississippi) impassable? because if so, it cuts the ap almost in half. Seems unrealistic to have to go nearly to Canada to get across. At least one crossing is necessary. To go from Choctaw to its geographical neighbor natchez requires conquering 12 territories.

I agree that the top of the map will be a wasteland to begin the game, and geographically it doesn't make sense that the arctic would be the most valuable region. Mexico has two of the largest pre-columbian civilizations and it is worth 1, while the Arctic has 27 words for snow and is worth 8? ;)

The polar region remains a bit confusing up in those islands... a few islands have borders drawn through them, so it's hard to know what's what.

Anyway, carry on the great work!

The Victoria Island belongs to the Copper River tribe.. I was hoping to bring those together with the army numbers
The Southhampton island I'm not sure what to do with, it's not a territory oif it's own... I was thinking about just deleting the color off of it and leaving it neutral..

only two territories separate from their pack... I would like to put some canoe outline, or something ike that at the base of the Mississippi to connect Natchez and Choctaw

Wow...looking very good. If I can think up a few names to replace the European ones on the map, I'll let you know.

One thing that you might want to do is lighten the borders, or the rivers. At the moment it's hard to distinguish the rivers as different from the borders.

Cheers,

everything i can think of has been pretty much stated already. this map has jaw dropping graphics and just looks perfect already. my main issues are the borders cutting through the islands in the artic, some one them you can resolve with an army number i bet but some of them not so much.

also id like to add while the bonuses do need a little tweaking like people have said, the current set up makes the map rather realistic since there will be a lot more action in the south than in the north and thats how it was 500 years ago :) but seeing as this is CC id probably prefer a map that plays well and is decently accurate over a map that plays horribly and is perfectly accurate

What an awesome idea... canoes for passable routes is genious!!! lends chaicter and authenticity all in one swoop..

I've had my heart on a map like this for as long as i have been here. The culture and politics were highly developed here long before europeans came and those aspects are rarely represented in everyday life. Most people dont know the extent the americas were populated prior to european colonazation.

Kudos Tisha!!!! =D> =D> =D> =D>

I see some problems, the fist is with the southwest. Say that someone has all the territories of the southeast bonus region on the east of the missisipi river, if he doesn't have some other territory on the other side then it is going to be really har for him to compleat his bonus. I like bonuses that are hard to get but then it needs to be worth more.

If the date is set at 1500, or give or take a bit, then you can have hispaniola and cuba both native territories that can border maya and seminole which would help solve the above problem and make the map easier to move around.

Is it just the font or is the H in hopi and hare not capitalized?

It looks great!
