Seems a reasonable suggestion.

A good suggestion. I'd also like to see a search for games reserved for you button.

Re: Add Filter For Reserved/Unreserved Games To Game Filter

Postby lackattack on Mon Aug 17, 2009 2:26 pm

I merged Mike the Squirre's suggestion with this one because they are similar.

We could add a checkbox to filter out fully reserved games to the Game Finder. I prefer that over automatically filtering them when you search for public or waiting games because the Game Finder is a general purpose tool used for more than joining games. However, according to my calculations less than 1% of public games are fully reserved. Could you give an example search where there is too much scrolling to find a game to join?

Search for games "Waiting for players, 2 players, Public, Casual" at any given time. I normally find that about half of them are fully reserved.

It's not that there is too much scrolling, it is that it puts the games I might want to play in the middle of a bunch of games I can't possibly play no matter what. However I am fine with the filtering checkbox, any time frame as to when this might get added?

Got to keep beating on the drum -- why isn't this done yet? Should have been rolled out WITH reserved games. Come on. It will take you five minutes and then it will be done forever.

Speaking of reserved game since when can freeiums not send out invites? Seems counter productive to me.

From the beginning. I don't know about being counterproductive, the same argument that comes with unlimited games, speeders, etc. fits this label (and frankly I agree with it).

UGH and not being able to invite on game creation, THAT is bad! Heh I just started a feudal War 2 Player game intending to invite someone and BLOOP someone jumps in. Which is fine, the more the merrier and all, but, come on. Anyway what is the game plan for the filter? Heh I need to bump up my old date range search request also. Incidentally I am a fulltime PHP developer and would be glad to lend a hand any old time.

Filter Out 'Reserved' Games

Postby mdeno2807 on Sat Sep 12, 2009 2:34 pm

Now, I apologise if this has been discussed previously, and I apologies if the format of this topic is incorrect, but I hope I get my point across, and welcome any ideas/opinions etc.

When I use the 'Game Finder' and search for Public games, I don't want to see a huge list of games that are 'Reserved'. What use are they to me? I can't enter them, so why bother?

Either:

a) Remove them, so I can't see them.
b) Allow me to select 'Reserved' or 'Non-Reserved' as a selection criteria when finding games.

INITIAL TROOPS FILTER BUT NO RESERVE FILTER?

Postby kmhebert on Wed Sep 16, 2009 7:56 am

I see you did add a filter for initial troops to game finder, why didn't you also add the reserve game filter while you were in there? Can you please add it now while your memory is fresh?

Heh so is this just not happening? I am curious how the process works, like how something goes from "Suggestion" to "Fixed". I am looking for a "Reserved" and "Unreserved" choice in Game Finder.

[GF] Hide reserved games in game finder

Postby Summer-me on Sat Oct 10, 2009 2:45 pm

Hide reserved games in game finder
  • In the game finder, hide the games that are reserved (where people are invited, so others aren't allowed to join)

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • It will make the game finder more easy to use. When you search for games you don't have to scroll through 2 pages of games where half of them are reserved. You can't join them, so why would you wanna see them?

Oh ok, I checked the post with all the implemented and rejected suggestions and I think this wasn't there.

But well, maybe better luck this time.

Ignore "Reserved" Games in Game Finder

Postby TurinTurambar on Fri Oct 23, 2009 11:56 am

Concise description:
  • When using the Game Finder tool, do not include, or have an option to exclude, games with only reserved spots left. These are essentially private games.

Specifics:
  • Games with only reserved spots should not appear in Game Search if you select Public games. I realize that sometimes there are some empty slots with reserved slots.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • Game Finder will no longer include games which you cannot join.

Reserved Games

Postby blacky44 on Sun Oct 25, 2009 8:50 am

I think when you search a game you should be able to choose reserved in joinability. I hate when i search for game and I want to join them but they are reserved. Also I hate going trought all the games that are reserved that I cant join.

Agreed. Fully reserved games shouldn't come up in the Game Finder.

I noticed that "nuclear" spoils have been added to game finder, couldn't you have added a filter for reserved/unreserved games as well? This remains as annoying as ever.

game finder showing games w/ no free slots, only reserved

Postby YogiJ on Tue Jan 12, 2010 9:43 am

Concise description:
  • game finder results showing games w/ no free slots, only reserved slots

Specifics:
  • games w/ reserved slots and no open slots aren't open games, shouldn't be listed as open games

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • make it much easier to find a game, speed up choosing, playing

Thanks!
