Looks like it didn't go because the TO started his own clan and his clan isn't in the event...

Seriously? My clan was in the event, KOA. The decision to leave KOA had nothing to do with the ICL. Like I said before, the ICL was run independently of KOA.
Why don't you pm me and ask something like this instead of spouting nonsense.

I'm sorry. I'm just wondering why you abandoned an event you (and others) put so much time into. I am a little pissed off. You obviously had clan support and could have sought other people to help but instead you just gave up on it. I'm just disappointed this didn't get off the ground and I think everyone should get an honest answer why it was given up on so easily.

Out of all of the contacts that I asked about preferences between the ICL setup and qwert's setup, there were 3 that replied they wanted ICL. You, MNDuke (surprise), and one other. Everyone was in favor of a different setup. IcePack even talked with Bruce about it before we messaged any clans. It might have been easier to continue with it if you hadn't thrown a fit when you received my message and removed everyone's privs along with moving the thread from active back to here. Just saying.

I was one "one other" and apparently angola was another "one other" who wanted ICL. Or was it many more than that??? Am I to believe that out of 32 clans who committed to the ICL that 28+ went back on that commitment? Based on what new information that wasn't already stated months ago? I'm not usually much of a conspiracy theorist but something just ain't right about all of this. Perhaps 85%+ of those 32 clans really are that flaky... but I'm a bit skeptical and wouldn't be surprised if there's more to the story than that.

Why even propose this either/or scenario between the ICL and qwert's idea... without involving qwert?!?!?

And i dont have any involvment in cancel of ICL, so again i dont know what you connect this two . You have Organisers of ICL, and you can ask hem if you interesting .

... especially when it seems that qwert's fine proposal seems more suited to become CL5 (replacing CL4) rather than derail the ICL... whose regular season was scheduled to end before qwert's league is slated to begin.

The decision to cancel was made "after seeking additional feedback from participants, discussing with CD's, amongst ourselves and looking at the prospects for the ICL 2012." You had 32 clans commit to the league (a very strong showing for what was to be its inaugural year); at least one CD (chemefreak) wanted to see the ICL continue. IcePack had not too long ago restated his commitment to seeing the ICL through and even in its last hours continued to express hope that it would move forward. MNDuke, apparently still wanted the ICL to continue... so where did this anti-ICL sentiment come from?!?! How did the prospects of the league suddenly diminish beyond the point of no return. I understand and accept there is no saving it now... but it looked like everything was all set to go until someone pulled the rug out from underneath at the last minute.

You're right. There was a grand conspiracy. Bruce is in on it. So was KOA, EMP, FOED and half of the other clans.

I had heard of two clans. chap was the one gathering feedback, perhaps it was 3. cheme to my knowledge didn't complain until after it was cancelled with a lovely PM to us organizers, and then again here AFTERWARDS.

So at most, thats 4. We had 18+ clans indicate they preferred qwert's, didn't like the sample schedule, wanted to consolidate, etc.
In other words, very little were interested in actually following through. This was discussed and our options evaluated. The ICL was cancelled because collectively looking at all the information we had, it didn't look very promising to have a successful event.

That's all there is to it. qwert was organizing his event on his own, we didn't need to "involve" him in the cancellation of ours because from the feedback we received from clans, they strongly preferred his anyway. He was already planning it....so to cancel ours didn't effect his at all, other than to get more people participating in his discussion.

If you'd rather believe in some fairy tale pie in the sky conspiracy tale - go right ahead. But I won't fan the flames any longer. We had a discussion about this already privately via pm (regarding the cancellation) and now with cheme's comments, its just getting silly, and this will be my last post regarding the cancellation.

Why even compare it to qwert's? His is a completely different type of tourney (European League style) with a different time frame. No comparison was needed. So what if most clans preferred his tourney? When did this turn into a competition with qwert??? Why couldn't you have both tournaments? ICL during the summer & qwert's to replace CL4 in the fall. I understand some folks feel there are too many large clan tournaments being tossed around and there is some desire to consolidate... but, despite this, 32 clans still committed to the ICL because it was such a great idea.

Surely the 32 clans that signed up for this tournament did so with the expectation that there would also be a CL5 coming. Surely the 32 clans that signed up for this tournament read the rules and were aware of the game requirements before chapcrap's PM was sent out. I find surprising the claim that 28-30 of the 32 clans who had committed to the ICL less than 2 months ago suddenly, two weeks before the tourney was to start, were no longer "interested in actually following through." Perhaps the clan community really is as fickle as you make them out to be.... I certainly hope that's not the case.

I never said 28-30 did. I specifically said, 18+ did. And there was a desire amongst all parties to have a successful event, which there were a bunch of reasons why i didn't feel it would likely end successfully. Yes clans all knew the details before, but i dont think some actually knew what they were getting into. Yes its different, no ones "comparing" the two events. Who compared the two?
