Fruitcake and partner -v- Gen.LeeGettinhed and partner

Sadly the challenge I laid down was in a thread which was locked.

So I thought it best to start afresh as I really think this would be an interesting match.

The challenge is still there. The issue of you disadvantaging yourself on points should not exist as my team total is well in excess of 7,000.

I suggest 10 games to try to reduce the 'luck' factor on drops etc.

fruitcake my advice is let him choose every setting and amount of games, dont give him a chance to back out using any legit reason, if he chooses every setting and still backs out he will have confirmed what we all know which is he is a coward.

concur on letting GLG pick maps and settings, thus not backing out.

I dont think he is a coward though, just my opinion here. I think he had a plan to make conqueror and has not waivered from it,despite what anyone thought of him.

But if he gets to pick maps and settings then there will be no backing out.

GLG and partner are you going to accept or ignore?

sounds like a valid challenge here.

There are plenty of valid reasons GLG could not want to accept this challenge. 7000 points is quite a lot but that restricts GLG to not having certain members as teammates, 10 games is quite a lot especially for the dedication GLG devotes to each one (i know this only from playing one game with him), he could just not want to accept it, or even then he could not want to play vs one of his detractors.

Im not defending his use of 1 vs 1 private games to get to the top, but i am saying that they are reasons he could not want to participate in this challenge and everyone should stop acting like he is obligated to accept or be deemed a coward.

I haven't called him a coward. This is a perception gained in many of the community from his actions.

I suggested 10 games purely to avoid the 'luck' element as much as possible. We all know that a single game means little, that's why clan challenges are run over many games, it does even the luck aspect out and produce more correct winners than otherwise.

I have also assiduously avoided 'calling him out' so to speak. I have challenged him as I would any senior ranked member of the community. I have been honest in my approach, tried to be fair and only ask for a response. If Glg doesn't wish to take me on, then he is welcome to say so.

As for the points differential, I disagree strongly with your point. If Glg hooked up with say a General, they would only have to win 6 out of the 10 games to draw pretty even on points. Now I am no expert in these matters, but I would expect a Conqueror and a General to manage that, even against myself and a General. To use the points difference as an argument against taking on such a challenge for fear of not achieving this would add further testament to the perception that he is not a worthy conqueror, with which I would actually disagree with until proven otherwise.

The challenge is simple, 10 games, 5 each way. I would happily take any team on where I had to win 6 out of 10 games under the same conditions (ie, a team which had a combined total of 80% of my team's points)

Fruity,

He won't accept; I have no doubt. The points are too precious to him to potentially lose. His number 1 goal in life was to attain the #1 spot on cc, which he could not take to lose that "status". For you to challenge him with a formidable team, this itself makes him very, very nervous for sure.

easy fix to the points problem have GLG play with a brig or colonel that is general capable, plenty out there. That way point loss to him would be minimal if he loses. Points gained would be less also.

I am sure Gen.LeeGettinhed would be careful in picking out his partner. Perhaps this is the reason there has been no answer?

I am happy to wait to prove that maybe he isn't as bad as many would have us all believe.

So what happens if me and glg win? Then what? Will you all of sudden respect him? Will he be a good player all of a sudden? How does that work? Just asking. I think this would be a damn good battle.

Well if Gen.LeeGettinhed can win with you as a partner i'd say he's the best doubles player on the site Brucey ;) (but then i'm just a witless smart-arse who doesn't play any longer so that isn't even a good sig. quote if you were to win)

I will certainly respect him for beating me, to do otherwise would be asinine. Whether he becomes a good player all of a sudden, as you put it, would not be for me to judge. I can only imagine that in doing so, it will achieve:

a) Show the community that he is able to step outside his comfort zone and hold his own against other senior ranks (something, dare I say, that Blitz would always do when he was of a mind...and I always had respect for him on that and plainly stated it previously in the forum)
b) help disabuse the notion that deep down he is a one trick pony that has used/manipulated the (flawed) system to advantage himself.

It bring ups the age old question that always seems to come up now in the age of conqbashing. "Is a player who manipulates the system, (which you have to do now to be conquerer) really a good player. I've always been one to believe that anyone who tops the scoreboard is able of maintaining a rank of at least mid-major/colonel without any forms of point manipulation, which I consider to be a good player, but other may not by others standards

I would disagree on some levels with this.

yes, it does require some specialisation to top the leaderboard. But...and i can't believe I find myself writing this....if you look at Blitz's record BEFORE he went to the dark side, he really was one of the truer more honest conquerors. His game plan was simple. Spend the points learning each and every map as it came out, take the hit on those points, then start beating all and sundry up in winning on that map and get those spent points back. take a look at his record, his map experience is really very very good.

What the community wanted and still want, is an honest player, one who does not duck challenges, one who is able to, at the very least, play on more maps than most and one who can play singles, doubles, triples and quads. This is an all rounder.

All I am asking the incumbent conqueror is to play 10 games. What's he got to lose? if he was to lose the lot he would be no worse off in terms of reputation and would likely still be conqueror. As soon as he starts winning some of the 10 games, this reduces the above risk. Should he win 5 out of the 10 he can say, hand on heart, I can mix it when a Brig and a General take me on. Should he win more than 5 then he has an argument to say his position is real and true, in other words, he should be conqueror.

ofc he manipulated the system, every conqueror did it.
he isnt the best player on this site, but then again, no one is. on other hand, one will always have most points... the way system is working atm, conqueror will always be someone who is playing games in which he/she feels comfortable. and acknowledging that or not, it still takes tremendous amount of skill to achieve that.
blitz can take any player on any map with any settings in 10 games match, and win it. cof can do that too. josko, ollie, jalen, bw, comic, rodion... so many of them. and one of them is the best, you just cant measure who has that slight advantage over the other...
if nothing, two of us can play that game. you can chose 5 freestyle games and win all 5 of them(cause the only way i can win freestyle game is if we play assassin and my target is me), and i will win at least 3 out of 5 sequential games i chose. is this means you are better player? no, that means im worst freestyle player that ever looked at this site.
