This'll be amazing for tournaments that use a lot of the same settings for games. I can't wait!

Allow multiple games to be made.

Concise description:
Allow multiple games to be made.

Specifics/Details:
When making games, we have to input all the details of a game type again (players, type of game, deployment, play order, spoils, reinforcements, foggy/sunny and casual or speed). This can be made so much easier to do with any one of 3 ways.

1. Like when making games for tournaments, go back to the create a game screen with all the info already in putted.
2. Give a button after the game is made, saying create the same game, similar to the create a new game button that is already available (if an existing game has been made to your style).
3. When you make a game, have a drop down box that asks for how many games would you like to make.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
Tournaments already have the first suggestion which is great but it would be nice to have it in normal play as well. Honestly, this probably would not benefit the site apart from making me and other players very happy. I rarely make just one game of a sort, and this would be gratefully received.

This has already been suggested a few times.

One way of doing it is to enter all the settings, map etc and click create game, then hit refresh(f5) and then enter. This creates another game with all the same settings. So if you hit f5 enter, f5 enter, f5 enter, f5 enter, f5 enter, f5 enter, you will create an extra 6 games.

Did not know it had been suggested before, but thanks for letting me know about f5 enter.

Maybe it's just me, but I have always been able to create the same tournament game over and over. I put the game settings in, press the "CREATE" button, and the setting stay right where they are...so I can press "CREATE"...again and again.

Can nobody else do this for tournament games?

Creating multiple games for tournaments only

Creating Multiple Games for Tournaments

Concise description:
  • I know something similar has been suggested before this is the previous thread if moderator does decide to merge the threads [Creating Multiple games at once]
  • The ability to make multiple games at once without reloading the page.
  • The main difference between what is suggested there and what is being suggested now is that this privilege should only be for tournament games and their organizers.

Specifics/Details:
  • To have the ability in tournaments only to create X amount of games with current setting and game labels.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • This will benefit the site because Tournament Organizers will be able to make more games accurately and quickly, possibly resulting in less abandoned tournaments.

I suggest this because i am currently running a tournament with 28 games per round and about 46 rounds total- so it would be easy if i can just make all my games then send out invites. This will limit organizers abandoning tournaments because they are too lazy to create more games. I know when i first started organizing, my tournaments will drag on for this very reason of being lazy and not wanting to create so many games.. but if i could say i want 10 tournament games to be created with these settings that would be amazing and make players and TOs enjoy tournaments so much better, but i cannot stress enough that this would be for TOs and tournaments only not for the general public wanting to create 1000 games.

RedRover, I am going to merge this with the other topic. That topic has already been submitted, which means that we believe it's OK for the general public to be able to do this as well as the TOs. We will just count this as further support that this feature is needed!

I apologize again for the new thread and the added work for you.. but if this has been approved then why hasnt it been implemented? Its been suggested multiple times months and months ago. I know people are busy, i dont know how hard this would be to put into to place. Im just totally curious if there is a plan in place or is this more on the eventually to-do list.

Look at the number of suggestions in the Submitted forum that haven't been implemented. Some of them were originally suggested years ago.

There's only one person really doing site updates and so things in this forum don't get implemented quickly.

Cool. Thanks for getting back to me and moving the topic and everything. Hopefully, this will eventually come up on the implemented list.

it would be great to see this implemented for tournament organisers, at the very least, as it would make tourneys so much easier to organise.

Creating Multiple Games at Once

This has probably been suggested hundreds of times before, but have you ever considered adding a #games to start on the 'Start A Game' menu.... So, If you create your settings, you can then decide how many of that type of game you wish to start?

So for example, I could change the settings to doubles with fog on the feudal war map and # of games to create = 10, then hit 'Create' and have 10 games created with those settings.

This would make setting up multiple groups of game so much less annoying IMO.

This has been suggested before, you should probably try doing a forum search before posting ;P

Seems quite a while since this suggestion received any attention...

I'm strongly in favour of it. I like to create four or five games at a time, and doing them one-by-one is a pain.

This has come up in other forums. I'll add my voice of support. At the very least TO's should get this. Don't they already have some kind of different page for making games? Or else how do they make tourney games. I certainly don't have the option on my Start A Game screen.

TOs start games the same way as normal. There is just a drop down box for them to put the game into a specific tournament they are hosting. Then it starts an empty tournament game instead of a public game with them in it.

This would be very useful to TOs.

Thanks. Either way, my point remains. TOs already have more options to make games, so this could be implemented by further changing the coding for the TO Start a Game screen. I think it should be available to everybody though.

Of course, you should still be limited by the 50 games awaiting players rule.

i would be prepared to contribute cash towards this being implemented for TO's.

can we get an SOS Create Multiple Games widget on the left for us to contribute towards the cost of implementing it.

Creation of multiple games with same settings

PostPosted: Tue Jun 26, 2012 3:09 pm
by BluU
Concise description:
Add an option to Start A Game page to create multiple games with the same settings

Specifics/Details:
  • A drop down will be added to Start A Game page with numeric values 2, 3, 4 ...
  • The number should be limited to Ten or something in that range to not allow creation of too many games, (unless there is no issue with such behavior.)

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • This will help us premiums that like to play several games with the same settings. Save us some valuable time, and help us prevent wrong settings that might have been missed due to the long tedious task of opening multiple games.
  • This will make the lives of tournament organizers much easier, as in a lot of tourneys they create dozens of games with exact same settings.

This has also been requested by the TDs. Hoping it will happen because it will make tournaments much easier.

I would like to request the perhaps unwanted power for TOs to be able to create games from a .csv file or something like that. For someone who runs a large tournament, to be able to generate all of the necessary info and then mass create the games would be a godsend. Since my tourney (NCAAs) allows people to play on home maps, it means every matchup has unique game settings. I autogenerate a spreadsheet of the info necessary to create games for my assistant TOs using google sheet and a bunch of formulas, but it would (a) reduce mistakes and (b) eliminate the need for SO MANY TOs to make the process of running the tournament much more manageable.

I don't believe this functionality should be available to anyone but TOs since no one needs to create so many games at a time but us.

You can't believe how much better it would be if chapcrap, DaveH, etal could use this functionality.
