the point of the time limit is so that you only have to take yor turns once a day, I'm on a lot more than that usually, but I at least try to get to it omce everyday. The two player games are no exception. Glad to see that speed games are coming though, then people will finally shut up about how long it takes for rounds, will definatly play a few of those too

if the game takes too long are you expected to get up every hour in the middle of the night? bad idea

Contrary to what you think, speed games are an excellent idea. :)

no one can or will log in once an hour to keep up with a 2 player game

I'm sorry, I didn't realize that a two player game was supposed to take all year. I play the 2 player not to gain points but rather because it is quick. There are only two of us to wait on rather than 5 or 6. If you find that you in are a bad position and decide to use the clock as a weapon I think that's cheap. It's a tactic, but it's cheap. I'm just saying that the two player games are such that if you see your opponent is going to smash you unless you are able to take your turn without him being around then you have the opportunity now to make the clock your friend and it's annoying.

ur putting the idea forward as ALL 2 player freestyles should have a time timelimit like that. what happens if people have to rush of to somethngi nmportant. at least they can rely on having 24 hours totake there next turn

of course they are, how do you say enforced rt, I'm just sick of all these threads about how long people take to take turns, whick is another plus to the speed games as people will stop complaining

Faster games needed..

A suggestion by a newbie to this site, but an experienced player. Why not set up a live game where all contestants must be logged in for the duration of the game. Lower time limits, and you could easily knock a game outin 5-6 hours

When we can play live games?

The only real problem with the idea is that it does lower the value of premium by quite a bit. As real time games would nearly eliminate the desire for the infinite number of games at once feature given to premium accounts.

So if/when these fast games are implemented, don't expect non premiums to be able to create them. Heck, lack might make it so non premiums can't even join them.

Agreed with Coleman, and a wonderful idea =)

Real Time Games

I have searched for this in the topic, sorry if I am repeating.

How about real time games, where the time for the moves changes. It could be like 10 minutes between turns, with like 15-20 minutes to play each turn just to keep things moving along, so someone will not have the option of not playing to spite people.

Also If I am playing at work, and I have a customer, the rest of the people playing will not suffer.

This is a great idea.

In the mean-time, i'll check out the callout board.

I like the idea of the realtime game for 3 hours, and then it switching over to a normal 12/24 hour turns. Because If you sign up for a rt game you are expected to play straight for the next block of time. But for the games that go on longer than expected.. some people need to sleep!

If you need to sleep then don't join a game with a time limit. Join a game that is set to 24 hour turns. This would just be an option for those of us that don't want to wait 2 weeks to finish a game and don't need sleep.

I'm just saying, sometimes games go much longer than expected. Maybe you only play escalating card games, but holy crap can no card games go on forever.
For games that go on 5, 6, 7 hours. Who plays straight for that long? Who wants to be sitting up at 4am thinking "I wish I could sleep, but I don't want to lose this game"
The shorter time limit games are a great idea for rt games. But there has to be some way out of it for the games that never end.

I understand. But this is just an option, it's not meant to be a new standard for the site. I'd love to have this as an option when starting a new game or for when i'm trying to join a new game.

Suggestion : Option for an RT game

Suggestion Idea: When making a game people can pick whether it will be an RT game.

Specifics: It will be an option just like picking whether the game is freestyle, is a team game or picking the fortification rules.

Why it is needed: It will help distinguish between the people who want a slow game or a game that is played in a short space of time.

yep, on it's way. ;-) We're calling it speed games. You can do a search of this forum (or the to-do list) and read about it and offer any suggestions you have in the official thread.
