This would be cool. And I agree that this is perhaps the only way of truly figuring out who the best "team player" is. This is not to be confused with figuring out who the best "team" is.

I'm split on the idea of whether you should be allowed to play multiple opponents with this setting. On the one hand, multiple players often add new insight to a team's position. As such, it would be challenging to play 4 very good players by yourself. On the other hand, the quintessential feature of a good team is coordination. And who can "coordinate" better than a single player managing an entire team? I find that the latter consideration makes this setting too advantageous for the single player. If 1 player was allowed to play 4, there would instantly be all kinds of new "ranchers" out there. I would probably be one of them, as I think I could easily gain points in such a setting. And think about freestyle! The single player would absolutely dominate that setting!

So I would support this setting with the addition that it only be available for 1 v 1 match-ups.

If this thing which I have affectionately called ~A Team of One~ in conversations past... ever gets approved it will probably cause me to play allot more team games.... but of this type. I like some maps that are great team maps... I love working our team strategies on those maps... But it is sometimes a hassle to get games started etc... This would make it far easier to get the games going and also allow me to be completely in charge of the strategy... win or lose... it would have been my fault. Pearl 4X4 with only 2 players for example... Love it... great idea... Somebody pick up the phone and call Lack already... :-)

Can we change the name of this suggestion to "Team of Self". As an option this name sounds more descriptive of the intent... I think so anyway...

Single Player Teams

PostPosted: Thu Sep 27, 2012 4:48 pm
by PUPPYFTW
Concise description:
  • A team game where a single user controls 2-4 armies

Specifics/Details:
  • 2-4 player game type, # of teams per player determined during game creation. Same rules as team game.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • For players who like the strategy options of team games but don't like having teammates who don't do what they are told/question their every move. Also moves faster in theory than a regular team game, and allows freemium players to get more game time in their 4 games. I play this sort of game in real life with one of my good friends (Frox333) and we both love it. Don't know if this was already suggested but I couldn't find anything that seemed to be the same.
Side note: 3-4 player games of this type would only be allowed 2 teams per player due to the 8 players per game limit.

I play this type of game all the time with my friend (in real life) and I LOVE IT. We definitely need this on the site.

2 player team games

PostPosted: Tue Oct 09, 2012 3:55 pm
by Scorba
Concise description:
  • I would like to be able to play 2 player team games, with one player taking control of all of a teams colours.

Specifics/Details:
  • Nothing more to add.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • I like to play one on one, but the current 2 player option is a total crap shoot. As long as both players have a reasonable grasp of strategy, it is a level playing field. Differences in skill matter little, with most games being decided by the drop, dice or cards.
  • There is also a seesaw effect, where if one player gains a small advantage it quickly becomes an insurmountable lead. A good round of dice early in the game can easily decide a game.
  • Team games simply have a greater skill factor than two player games.

Sounds exactly the same as this suggestion: http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=178912 ?

which was told it was the exact same suggestion as this: https://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=535&t=109621

*Bump*

Might there be some hope for this to see the light of day, now that we have new management ?

On a side-note: I´m not sure, this merging practice is so fortunate. I had started a suggestion for this too & put A LOT of work into it, including two polls, detailed summary of the debate (pros & cons) in the first post, clarifying questions such as 1v1 and 1vteam, etc.

This has now gone lost somewhere in the middle of those 20+ pages. Here it is: viewtopic.php?f=535&t=109621&p=2458643#p2458643

When we present the ideas to management, it okto have this merged for two reasons:
  1. We can have all relevant discussion in the same space. (good for mods and others who want to know complete history)
  2. The management will not read through this whole thread to understand the idea. We will present the idea to them. It will largely be based on what you proposed and worked through.

Bottom line: your work is appreciated and is not going unnoticed.

Seconded. I think we've got a good team here in Suggestions that is more active than ever. When we present this to the leadership or if they were to ask us about it, then someone who is familiar with the entire thread will be involved in the discussion. We aren't just reading the first and last pages of threads and filling in the gaps with our imaginations.

One player 'teams'.

I want the ability to play 1vs1 team games. Instead of telling 2 other people what to do in certain maps and another guy on the other team doing the same we could control the moves and troops of 3 players. I think everyone agrees there's different skill sets required for every game type at CC, this is another that isn't being tested. Who are the best team players on CC?

It wouldn't take anything anyway from the current system as people will always want to play in normal team games with their regular players but it would add another dimension to what is already a great varied website.

why not but this has been suggested many times before.
would it be ok to play 2/4 players vs that 1 man team?
would there be a special medal or would it be counted as dubs/trips/quads unique kills? I guess lots of configs would be acceptable such as 2vs2 quads?

Same as all other suggestions. The programmer chooses what to do with the time available and completes the task. The new leadership is still transitioning and hasn't started implementing suggestions, so things will take a while still. And I can tell you that this suggestion is not first priority for most.

I don't think it would be ok to play 1 player v a team. IIRC, that idea has been kicked around and it would be too easy for that single player to gain too much of an advantage.

As for medals ... your guess is as good as mine, but I would think that this would be a new medal type.
