[Forum] Strikethrough/Spoiler Buttons

Concise description:
  • Strikethrough button, like where B, i, and u are.
  • Spoiler button

Specifics/Details:
  • You can already do strikethrough text by doing this:
    Code: Select all
    [s][/s]

but there's no button for it. So basically I'm just suggesting there be a button like in between u and Quote for the strikethrough code.
  • Same thing with "spoiler". You can enter the code like so:
    Code: Select all

but there's no button for it. I suggest there be a button for it like between Quote and Code, or something.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • It can be a bit of a pain sometimes having to type it all out, like with eliminated tournament participants and such. Plus, people would be more aware of their ability to use strikethrough text. Also, I figure this would be really easy to implement so I have high hopes for this being available soon...
  • As for spoilers, it's even more (imo) unnecessary typing. They're quite useful, but sometimes it's just not worth the hassle (yes, I know, I'm lazy). Like the with the strikethrough button, this would make people more aware of its existence.

I agree. (I'll edit my first post)

The thing is, those buttons are there because they're are the most often used in text edits. The reason that its not done for all of them is that it would be way too many buttons. For instance, just because you use strikethrough a lot doesn't mean someone else is or will. But they have other tags they use so now those tags get made into a button etc etc. I just can't see this getting done.

I can see this for the strikethrough, but I use spoiler a LOT.
I'd add that if I could. This suggestion has my support. (Maybe get rid of List= since the only difference is an '=' compared to list? This would help amke room.)

Personally I say List= and Quote should be removed from the buttons list. As most quote's are done directly from the button on a post and List= is rarely used. However changing the default buttons would require a code modification.

I use list all the time and when I multi-quote somebody it is quite useful. Well, I type all bb-tags myself so it doesn't really matter, but it would be nice to have them there for other normal people :).

i bold what i need then change the b's to s's but spoiler takes more effort and is prone to typos so i would like this one but both would be better

how about we get rid of the italics and/or underline ones. and i don't understand why we have two list buttons

Because one is ordered and the other one is unordered.

do you mean one of them changes the order of the list to make it alphabetical ?

It just changes the numbering/lettering; not the order.

  1. Lemonade
  2. Banana
  3. Llama
  • Lemonade
  • Banana
  • Llama

Try out some possibilities...

But technically, you can just use
then add an equals sign. Easy enough, no?

Yes, you can, which is why I vote for just removing the list= and putting spoiler in it. Strikethrough I don't think is used as much to have it's own. I like my bold, keep it there

I use italics more than just every now and then. Underline however...

Oh, and definitely keep the button for quoting.

i think he was too

sometime ago i tried the list= button and it didn't work

i made a list:-

Fe Fi Fo Fum

i highlighted it and hit list= :-
Fe
Fi
Fo
Fum
and then i put the title of my list in the bracket after the = like i do for spoiler, url or for who the quote was by:-
Fe
Fi
Fo
Fum
& it didn't work :( so i have ignored it. now i know how it works and it seems rather pointless (obviously no pun intended)

Try reading the whole suggestion ;)

Victor is asking for a BUTTON for the strikethrough text. He knows you can do it via , but he wants a button, such as for Bold, and italics.

That was basically what i got with that suggestion but then they took away the button and never answered why

PWNED.

Also, I agree with MeDeFe on keeping quote and ridding underline...it's not used as much I think.

Strikethrough & Spoiler buttons would be really handy.

Any chance this could be relooked at as we are under new management.

If we had a like button, I would like this post, but since we don't, I'll just say that I agree.
