Freemiums Slot Plan

Concise description:

• Freemiums' slots for games should be based on their rank/amount of points

Specifics:

• Anyone less than 1000 should get 4, 1000-1199 5, 1200-1399 6, 1400-1599 7, 1600-1799 8, 1800-1999 9, 2000-2999 10, 3000-3999 11, and then 4000 and above 12, unless conqueror, then unlimited. This system can be tampered with, as long as the same base is maintained.

This will improve the following aspects of the site by:

• Decreasing the amount of multis
• Increasing the amount of players/popularity on the site
• Increasing the amount of people participating in forums, clans, and tournaments
• Decreasing the amount of noob-farming (as there will be less noobs and players will gain experience much quicker)
• Decreasing the amount of point-dumping

That is what many people have said to me, but in case you haven't noticed, it is not about the amount of games for me personally. I am only in two active games, and hardly have three or more, unless I am playing in my tournament that I just started. My suggestion is for the beneficiary of the site. Also, CC is very liberal and considerate, and I am thankful for the slots I already have, but as I just said, a slot plan for freemiums COULD greatly improve the site.

Ahhhhh...ok...I understand...but as I said before, the plan can be tempered with. I just feel that succeeding should be rewarded by getting more slots, even if that means that 1499 and lower get 4 slots, 1500 - 1999 get 5, etc. The plan can be tampered with in many ways. Also, freemiums can still be restricted from speed games, private games, etc.

I understand that...but some people simply do not want to pay. Therefore, they do not deserve premium membership, nor many of the rights CC already gives them, but I still feel that if a simple system was created so that a player got more slots when they succeeded, the site will benefit from great improvement. (I want to hear what other people...that is other than assassin...think as well about my proposal.)

This seems to me to be a negative. Here's why:

First of all, it would probably decrease the number of multis a BIT. Only those multis who are here for "more games" which, sadly, is not the majority of multis in my opinion (I wish it were). But that's the only positive I see out of it.

I don't see how it would increase the amount of players on the site, because freemiums already get far more than most sites...so if that were what was going to attract them, it already would have done so.

I don't see how it would increase the amount of people participating in forums, clans or tournaments either. It's irrelevant to the first two, and as to the third...one or two additional games is not going to vastly increase one's ability to join tournaments.

This absolutely will NOT decrease the amount of noob-farming. In fact, I would say that it would tremendously INCREASE it. I also don't believe it will affect point-dumping, because most point-dumpers are doing it either out of spite at something or because they have some weird logic about how they can increase their score more rapidly by doing so.

This plan would really only work to the advantage of those who are map-specialists. Players like me who play every map (or even a large number of them) simply don't get all of the tiny nuances of every map we play like the specialists do, thus the rank doesn't increase either.

It's certainly not going to increase anyone's likelihood of buying premium (thus ACTUALLY helping the site in a very REAL way), because "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?".

I think you'll have a hard time proving any of these improvements, but at least you're in the right forum this time.

• Could actually increase multis to help you get rank faster to get more games
• Increasing the amount of players (likely but also likely to be multis)
• I can tell you that clans primarily want premium players. I have seen only a few freemiums contribute to clans.
• Noobs are everywhere
• Point-dumping is primarily from premium members. Null point.

Haha woodruff and Thezzaruz...you both make very good points. But, it would decrease the amount of point dumping greatly b/c if one person continually lost games while dumping, they would slowly become unsuccessful. It would also give them more of a reason not to dump. I also believe that it would decrease the amount of multis much more than you think, as I have a friend (he had like 8 accounts and was busted) who made more accounts b/c he wanted to play more games (this is just one example). Also, the population on the site would increase because of less multis and dumpers, less people will be banned. Yes, CC already has many privileges that other sites do not, but this could inspire older higher ranked freemiums to rejoin the site, and also encourage new recruits who thought they could play more to continue to play. In regards to noob farming, it would decrease because there would be less noobs to farm. They would gain more experience much quicker, thus not being noobs after a certain amount of time. Also, the money made by the site would not necessarily decrease. However, since all of the points from both sides of the argument are borderline questionable, could CC possible put this plan or something like it in for a week, and see what results? That may be the only answer, instead of constantly arguing over the same ideas (which will never resolve it).


Haha...i wrote all of that and then saw jp's post. So I will respond to that in this post as well. I highly doubt that it would increase multis b/c the freemiums may be more satisfied now (but I may easily be wrong here). Clans do want premium members (although the one I am in accepts both), but if this plan was put in place clans would want freemiums b/c they could play in more clan games. Noobs are everywhere, but they would gain experience much quicker, thus getting rid of them much quicker. Point-dumping is done mostly by premiums, but freemiums to do it sometimes as well, thus decreasing it a little. All of your points are legitimate, I just feel that my plan COULD improve the site.

I think it was part of an analysis I was doing in the tournaments area, but I remember the data I had showed that premiums lasted at least 3 times longer on the site than freemiums.

I think premium at 25$ is a great deal.

In all honesty, this is an ok suggestion, but not likely to happen.
