Is Robin Egg Blue out of the question then?

Yes... out of the question, since Robin eggs
aren't Cyan, Aquamarine or Teal colored.

CC uses #0CC, which expands to #00CCCC

So technically, it's not actually cyan, but it's a bit closer to cyan (51 increments of luminosity) than it is to teal (76 increments).

And, oh yeah, what CC calls "silver" definitely isn't. Silver is #C0C0C0, but CC uses #7F7F7F, which is just one increment away from #808080, "gray", but 65 increments from proper "silver". And "slate gray" is #708090, giving it a slight blue-ish hue (like actual slate).

While we're at it, CC "green" (#009a04) isn't really green (#008000).

No freaking wonder everyone's confused!

I feel like you should expand on this, and write an investigative piece for the CC Dispatch newsletter. :D

And that's why all the local boys liked her so much.

Seriously though, anyone who gets worked up about this, has some issues they need to work out for themselves. When I say, "someone break teal. he's getting too strong", if you don't know which player to which I am referring, then you're probably a fucking retard.

The accused are suspected of calling the colour teal and I had already and most importantly firstly called that colour cyan. C&A would be issuing bans on mentioning the colour which shalt not be named. The horror, and amusement in it all would be saccharine sweetness with a bitter twist.

Good point, we can use this as the subject for the "who should the next petty C&A report be filed against?" contest winner.

Mustapha Mond wrote:51 increments of luminosity

Luminosity is a balanced function of red/green/blue which is based on perceptual brightness values of each channel. Luminosity of 00FFFF can be calculated as (0 * 0,30) + (255 * 0,59) + (255 * 0,11) = 178,5. While Luminosity of 008080 is correspondingly 89,6, and 00CCCC is 142,8.

So the difference between 00CCCC and 00FFFF is not 51 increments, it is 35,7 increments of Luminosity.

You're not talking about Lightness either, which is defined as (Max(R,G,B) + Min(R,G,B)) / 2. Therefore the lightness of 00FFFF is 127,5 while the Lightness of 00CCCC is 102. So the difference in lightness is 25,5 increments.

You're talking about Value. Value is defined as Max(R,G,B). The difference in Value is 51 increments.

Fortunately, there are standards.

Process of elimination and previous experience with people who don't know
what teal looks like provide all the clues necessary to sort this out.

When I am playing a game, I usually find myself falling into using only colors to refer to opponents, even if I am familiar with the opponents.
