Sorry for being this explicit, but I'm sure most users here would like to see you phrase a sentence that starts with a capital letter and ends with one (!) period.
Also, I didn't respond, because I was kinda surprised, but... glad you apologized Dukasaur. Your point gets across a lot better now.

Over 1100 new members in the last 24 hours??? I highly doubt it.... Something smells fishy on the full scoreboard page.

It took less than 2 weeks to get that number back down, to 9941 now.

Which means the real number is 9356...

Monthly scoreboard qualification criterium is completed at least 20 games per a month, so that shows better about actual activity of members. Whoever finishes more than 20 games per month can be called really active member, very likely premium member, so I think trend of overall CC activity can be better tracked from that data.

There is no data available before April 2014, although data were tracked since October 2013. I believe that bigwham cleared the data before April 2014 when he fixed the long lasting problem about site lag bug.
The lag bug was fixed on October 12th, 2014, so we can observe that long lasting decline of at least 6 consecutive months was converted into at least 3 consecutive months of incline, in terms of number of players per month who finished at least 20 games. It will be interesting to see if the incline will continue, with new site additions from December/January. Currently, there are 1689 players in monthly scoreboard for January, with 7 more days still to go.

Final data for January 2015:
2096 members with a score above 800 and 20 finished games. The high point this far in this little uptick(since the lowpoint in September). A roughly 5 percent increase.
February will be interesting with the shortest time frame of the year.

this number is no longer relevant. once the books were cooked there is no basis to go off of any longer. you might as well just say the number is 17,429. it would look better and still hold pretty much the same value of worthlessness.

I think I proved to you quite conclusively that they way they are counting now is, in fact, consistent with the way things were always counted. If you've forgotten already, read it again:

Not a cooking of the books at all, the change actually corrected the anomaly that guide games had introduced into the count.

oh here we go again.
all you proved to me is, "games that do not give, or take away points now count towards your rank on how many points you gain or lose"
ok, i get it. the books have been cooked.
you are missing my point tho' i think.
"this thread is dead. quit posting a number that is in no longer relevant towards the number that has been posted for over 3 years"

Guide games did not exist 3 years ago, therefore the anomaly they caused in the count did not exist. Guide games were introduced maybe six or eight months ago, therefore that is when the skew in the numbers that they cause would have begun. The correction that was introduced brought us back into line with the numbers as they have always been posted, except in the last six or eight months. Is this clearer?
