B) he hasn't been on since before jonty sent out the PMs, but jonty didn't notice the pm was in his box, which means at least one other player got that pm.... Which means he is probably mafia.

after applying my RSFFS, or Random Scientific Formula for Finding Scum, the results i got point to one man so i must vote kanin

Can you show me what post what led you to this conclusion? (The part about Jonty not realizing Vodean didn't open the pm himself.)

yeah I didn't quite get that either. Jonty asked if anybody has seen vodean but i dont see how that gets us to Doom's conclusion

Ok. Two scenarios:
Scenario one: vodean doesn't open his message. Jonty First checks the timestamp and sees vodean has been gone for a couple weeks. I would think jonty wouldn't say anything in the thread.
Scenario two: the message is opened. Jonty wonders why vodean opened the message but isn't posting. He asks in thread why vodean isn't posting.

Jonty, please replace Vodean. Even if he does come back he clearly won't be reliable at this point in time.
