Beef Cuts Idea

Let me know what you guys think of this one, it's a map of the beef cuts on a cow. I'm still pretty new to map-making, so if you have any suggestions, or notice anything that needs to be changed, let me know.

It has 50 territories and 13 "continents"

Beef Cuts, VERSION 2:
(64 territories, 13 regions)

Also, here's a basic version that just shows the layout of the territories, so it's easier to look at the gameplay. (And I put it over a celery stalk for army of nobunaga. :D )

Let me know what you think.

Beef Cuts, VERSION 2.1
(58 territories, 13 regions)

Here's a new version, I basically just took out the four-way borders in Flank, Thick Flank, and Sirloin:

And again, the basic layout:

It's because you didn't use the Direct Link URL. This is the one:

Oh, my gosh, that is kind of sick and at the same time so alluring.

Yeah i tried to do the whole Bulls head idea, somewhere on the site, didn't go well... lol

Feel free to use any of the ideas on that map. You do need a theme like natty suggests all the time, "Why would you want to conquer beef cuts?

but good luck!

The territories should be named after individual dishes, like "filet mignon," "hamburger," "London broil"

If it's goofy enough, I'll play on it. Game play isn't all that bad, but the leg and shin should be reduced to 1 army per turn.

Ooh... well... funny :D

To be honest I think your pirate map has more potential. Like I said to grifftron on his bull map, it will be an uphill battle. I'm not saying the map shouldn't be made, but you'll face lots of obstacles on a map like this... the Foundry isn't very receptive to abstract/non-geographical map ideas, so you will need to do a lot of convincing to get this through.

Really, I think your best bet would be to concentrate on your pirate map - which already has a fan base of sorts.

It's kind of a funny map. I'd play a few games on it but I dunno if the novelty would last long.

Keep in mind there is a two map limit per mapmaker as well.

I disagree. We've already got a couple of pirate maps, and in any case beef diagrams are one of those abstract images that are so recognizable that I think people are likely to go along with it. Yes, it might be a novelty, but I don't think that makes it not worth making.

Evil, dito. I think this map has tons of potential. The gameplay might need a tad bit of work, and I think the theme of eating your opponent under the table could be developed a bit. Maybe change the background to a slaughterhouse? or a fancy restaurant? And I like the idea of naming the territs after dishes :) As well as the tits being involved... maybe they can one way attack a bucket of milk, and when you hold the milk you get +1 for every bonus region you hold (a la Alcatraz in the SF map) because the milk helps the food go down. Just first thoughts. Anyways, I think the community will be very receptive to this map, as long as it is done well...

To me right now it's not that appealing of an idea. My goal is not to be discouraging. It just needs something more to it to make it interesting. I think the pictures of the cow, meat, background, need to stand out more. That may make it more appealing. Also a more creative idea of the beef cuts would improve this map idea.

Gl and good start!

fore rib should be +3, and leg should be +1, this is kind of funny.

way to think outside the box. This map could be the most talked about map in rotation. I say continue working on it.

I agree with this.. At first people said Feudal or Doodle Earth would never work.. we all see how that went. 2 of the most popular maps on CC. Not saying Beef Cuts will be, but I will surely be playing this map. "Please take Top Sirloin" LOL

You need to make a design brief! It's the first post in the melting pot.

I think there should be a PETA or some other animal rights group territory that can bombard all territories on the cow.

I kind of foresaw that. But he's logged in today and is taking his turn on games. I hope he does return because he's got some interesting ideas.
