Looks great... I like the movement of the ring-divider, and the blue is cool, looks like a laser!

Let's get this puppy up and running!

Normally I'd wait to confirm with cairnswk to move but he's been really hard to reach today so I'll move you, since you've met all the conditions.

Looks pretty good. I have one thing that is bugging me. The whole area of Halo and Praetos is just too cramped.

If you do the following:

A) move the entire Praetos planet [except the Praetos label] up a few pixels
B) move the entire Halo planet up a few pixels [a couple more than you move Praetos] and over to the right several
C) move the map name [SPACENESS label] up a couple of pixels

It would look a lot less cramped and crowded. You could make out the map name a little better.

Also, I don't think you have to - but it might be nice to thin out the red arrow in the legend so it matches the new red arrows (which are much better).

Finally, switch the Army circle and Bombard symbol on Shin Zon, that way army numbers won't overlap the Bombard symbol. It's a tough territory to have both. Maybe move the Bombard symbol to Deryer?

Was making Ness 5 impossible to conquer intentional?

Each Ness object in the ShapeNess group can attack all the other Ness objects. So, Ness 5 is eminently conquerable.

i'm trying, really trying to wrap my head around this one. It looks fantastic, but what is it? I see a bunch of shit in space (and I mean that in the nicest possible way), some of which can or can not attack each other, and some of which can bombard other things way across the map.

Buckles? Shapeness? Spaceness? Is this based on something I'm not familiar with? It may look and play fantastically, but I fear that the more abstract a map is the less it is played.

To make my point more clear...

I see... so the main problem we have going on here is that there's no story, nothing for people to relate to?

Ah ok. I see.

I guess this means that the legend should be clearer for poor dolts like me  :(

I don't really know how I can make the legend clearer with regard to that... any suggestions?

This is a damn good-looking map.

One quick thing: I much preferred the whitish attack arrows. The red ones stand out too much, and that's the first thing your eye goes toward (well, after the big honkin sun in the center :D ), rather than the map itself.

It's called Ness 0 and not 1 because it's special; it's the only one that can be attacked normally from a place that isn't another Ness. As for the word being sideways... I guess I really should change it.

AMAZING!!

Postby stryd3r on Wed Oct 31, 2007 8:18 pm

WOW! This is perhaps one of the most brilliantly designed and thought-out maps I have ever seen. As someone who loves the game of risk and all its derivatives, I can greatly appreciate the unique strategies and creative thinking that must be applied to a map of this caliber. The fact that there is a forced need for temporary alliances serves only to keep the game play real and alive. The shapeness, which can attack any other shapeness regardless of map positioning, enables the intelligent player to apply a whole new degree of creative strategy to an already compelling and captivating game.

The fact that this map is based on an "outer-space" theme shows the depth and breadth of the creator's imagination. The artist took our favorite game and created not only a brilliantly laid out playing field but combined it with a truly picturesque scenery. Because this map combines the truly singular nature of the game of Risk with the awesome splendor of space, I believe that it will be a tremendous asset and immensely enjoyable board for the entire Conquer Club community.

That was a well thought out opinion, stryd3r,(is it aragorn or hiryu) any way i appreciate your articulate and unabashedly truthful words. If only the vox-populi echoed that impressive string of verbiage. A great man once said "when in rome...."
Although, you are a man of your obviously honest and honorable words, I would ask that you scoure the minutae of the SpaceNess and find faults in it, because If this map is as fun and entertaining as was said above, There could be no sequel for what would be there to improve?

Well you need a small version that is 600px wide. Other than that, if everyone else thinks this is good I don't have anything to add. Pass from me.
