That is the difference between a good shadow and a bad one. Even without the shadow, the mountains floated on the map. Just noticed this and this might help solve the problem on some of them. The Paris inset has the shadow going down and to the right. The mountains are going to the left while the ones at the bottom seem to be going up. All shadows should by rights go in the same direction! The shadow that really works is next to Savoie, but it is on the wrong side. Make the rest like this but toned down like Alsace and you might have a winner IMO.

you may want to clean up the borders also. It looks unfinished where the rivers meet the sea.

Normally, the graphics have already been validated there more than a month.

The problem is that now I have to do everything twice on the big and small map.

We can always find things again, again and again. Now it is my last updates.

Lancelot, you are still in the graphics stage, so if anyone sees anything, then you have to address the problem or give a good rebuttal as to why you won't make the changes. Make the changes on the large and scale the large down so that you don't have to do both, it will be much easier for you. You've made it this far with a good looking map, a few more tweaks here and there and we can get this moved on.

Again you are doing a great job!! =D>

Lancelot, you do not need have regions around Paris so large in Paris inset. there are not needed 888s in these regions - they are already in map. so made these regions smaller (just so large that there will be names) and use this "new" space and made Paris (in Parsi inset) larger.

and then you maybe do not need go over the regions...

up to you Lance if you want to address the border or not. I know when I make my maps, i'm very meticulous over the details. If there's something that bothers me, I do my best to address it. Otherwise, every time I look at the map it will bug me.

Having a hard black border suddenly stop at the rivers beginning to a soft light blue border would bug me. If you're okay with it, it doesn't bother me.

although i'm not a graphics expert, i have to say that the haute-alpes mountains look super, while the ones in the middle are not so convincing, maybe because they're all the same size.

the names for the rĆ©gions in the mini-map look untidy: some are written in full, others are abbreviated with dots and BZH has no dots. i like the BZH method best. can i suggest that u use the 3-letter INSƉE abbreviations for all of the rĆ©gions (with no dots), for example ALS for alsace, AQU for aquitaine, AUV for auvergne and so on? the exception might be BZH instead of BRE for bretagne because BZH seems to be used popularly by the bretons. if u do this, then the xml rĆ©gion bonus names will be ALS Alsace, AQU Aquitaine, AUV Auvergne and so on, so that both the visible abbreviation and the full name will appear in the game log. here's the full list of INSƉE abbreviations.

this is one of the best-looking maps currently in the foundry, so don't give up!

Looks cool.

My only nitpicks for now:

rigid borders along the coast (mostly in the Pas de Calais area)
similar angular borders in the Paris inset at the top right

It's an odd shape, I'll concede, but not quite that angular I feel.
But no big deal, I suppose.

The shadows from the mountains are on the side. They need to go on the left side of the mountains. I really like the shadow you have on these:

A tad darker, and moved to the opposite side and it will be perfect. Do the shadow like these on all the mountains, and then we should be able to get this moved on up, unless of course someone finds something else that needs to be done.

That's why now the shadows are on right side. No updates for side's shadows.

But shadows on the light side of the mountains are wrong. They need to go on the dark side.

Thank you for telling me now :x

So, if I understand, I move all shadows on the left side?

That would be better than re doing all mountains. But yes, dark = shadow.

In odre I drew:

- The shadows on the left side
- Then the shadows on the right side
- And now the shadows again on the left side
- Next step?

could you redone the delta of Loire?
and maybe kick off black frame of Paris inset.

Forget redoing the delta of Loire, no reason can be found for having to redo that. As for the black frame, that will be up to you. Map makers prerogative if you like.

you can not see how different it looks when you look at other deltas? it looks different as deltas and also different as sea.

Thank you koontz. I deal with the dark side of the mountain.

What is the general opinion about the black frame?
