Unless stated, I'm assuming each advancing team will keep the same map into the next round. Please post if you wish to change.

The tournament in its original version was supposed to allow for 2 GA medals, one for the individual who collected 16 bonuses, and one for the team who collected 21 bonuses. Obviously, nobody could qualify for those, since we didn't play the original number of maps. However, I was prepared to argue that since I reduced the tournament from 33 maps to 11 maps, we should also reduce the number of bonuses needed to qualify. My suggestion was 5 to qualify for the individual, and 7 to qualify for the team.

Yesterday one of the Tournament Directors asked me if anyone had qualified, and I realized I hadn't checked recently. So, here is the list:

show: bonuses held

As you can see, nobody has more than 4 individual, and checking against the teams, no team has more than 5. So, even if we reduce the criteria (and that would be a big "if". I couldn't do it on my own discretion; I would have to persuade the Tournament Directors that it's a good idea.) nobody qualifies. So, no GA medal.

The best that we can do is a good pat on the back for the people who came close.

Congratulations to Fairman and Seamus76, each of whom individually racked up 4 bonuses!

=D> =D> =D>

Congratulations to AT16 (general_c, jrbedwell, and rmjw10, plus others) who racked up a team total of 5 bonuses!

In the end, the other series was not as close as it looked.

Gael Force blew away the notyou2 team 3-0.

Okay, grand finale. Gael Force vs. AT10. Gael Force is the higher seed and gets their 2 maps, AT10 is the underdog and picks one map. Gael's home maps are Lunar War and South America, while AT10's map is also South America, so there will be two of those in the series.

Games have been created and invitations sent out! Good luck to all!

Medals all around, and 1 year premium divided four ways between the team, so three months each, unless someone decides to forego their prize and transfer it to someone else.

Many thanks to Dukasaur for his hard work, commiserations to Gael Force - the result could just have easily have gone their way with a bit more luck for them and less for us.

Congratulations to my AT10 team mates - a good effort all round considering we hadn't played together before =D> =D> =D>

I echo clanger's comments -- great job for keeping the tournament going Dukasaur, glad to be part of the ending, of at least the team finale!

Well played Gael Force -- see you again on the battlefield in the future!

I look forward to teaming up again with my AT10 teammates as well -- we made a pretty good team, sorting out our team strategy as we went along.

Well after a little bit more than a year, we have finally come to the end of our journey together. I'm mainly relieved, but also a little bit sad. This tourney defined so much of my CC experience for the last year. At times the process of working out what to do and how to resolve the many issues about was an annoyance and quite frankly, a piss-off, but at other times it was very gratifying. I've exchanged messages with so many of you, especially those who survived into the later stages, that you feel like my extended CC family. Anyway, before I get too maudlin, let me get on with our business here.

In just a minute I'm going to be congratulating our winners, but let me mention a few others first.

First, I would like to thank all of you who participated in the discussions when we needed to work out how to proceed. There were a lot of very intelligent suggestions, and there was above all a great sense of fair play and good sportsmanship. I was really impressed with the quality and tone of the debate at those moments.

Second, I would like to acknowledge the original organiser of this tournament, DJENRE. Now, I know that some people didn't like DJENRE, and he certainly at times did some things I disagreed with, but overall I've never known anyone who was more enthusiastic and positive about CC.

show: more about djenre

Third, I think I would be remiss if I didn't give a final tip of the hat to our namesake, the science fiction writer Jules Verne. DJENRE created this tournament to celebrate Verne's works. I realize that for most of us these tournaments are just an excuse to play the game, and the flavour posts are just window dressing. Still, if even one person was motivated by their participation here to discover or rediscover a Verne novel and actually read it, I think we've done our job.

Fourth, I would like to thank my co-organiser, and Keeper of Ye Scoreboard, Pandemonium. Going through the logs and isolating who got the bonus, even when so many people didn't bother posting, was a long hard task. I did it for a few games, and in some cases it took quite a bit of time. Pandemonium did it for at least 80% of the games, possibly more. Pandemonium earns himself a nice TOs medal for his efforts, but sometimes it doesn't seem like enough. Many of you have thanked me for rescuing this tournament, and I gladly accept your thanks ( :D ) but I really wish more of you had taken the time to thank Panda.
kudos, Pandemonium. =D>

Very well, I shall now unveil the winners.

The winner of the individual portion of the Jules Verne Contest is:
general_c
General_c has already received his premium prize; now he will also received his tournament medal!
=D>

The winners of the Team Finale are Team AT10:
rjhankey
bobdakota
kuma32478
clanger35

All four will get a tournament medal. Bobdakota has elected to give his share of the premium prize to kuma, so the final breakdown will be: 3 months of premium to rjhankye, 6 months to kuma32478, and 3 months to clanger35.

Congrats all on a job well done! =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Special thanks to my team: DoomYoshi, scatt, and torres44cm. Three of us got knocked out in the first two rounds, but torres44cm continued on and scored so many points that he almost got us into the final!

Congrats to everyone who made it all the way through, really. It was a long tournament, and there were some tough competitors out there!

A big thanks to you.
I feel a bit worried just like you for DJenre. He wrote to me that he was a fireman and sadly in France we have access to internet in jail and you don't go for so long in for a fight in a bar.
But life must go on ... or fight must go on
Thanks again

And as you mentioned Dukasaur ... a huge thanks to Pandemonium for his work on the scoreboards! I can't imagine the difficulty of having to pour through games to try and figure out who earned bonus points ...
