Brackets update with a new Sweet 16 bracket that shows the late rounds of the tourney coming together. All available Sweet 16 matchups (three of them) have been sent out...other matchups are getting close to being started. We even have our first overtime game between #13 Louisville and #5 Purdue.

Five teams have advanced to the Elite 8 and the NIT bracket has half it's semifinal spots filled. Brackets and boxscores updated...new games coming as they are available, although I'll hold the Elite 8 games for a few more days.

#16 Gonzaga and #1 Miami are in the middle of an intense first-round battle in the South Region with the Bulldogs clinging to a two-point lead while the Canes try to make up ground with the bench maps.

brown bears are out.... crushed, disintegrated by richmond in the NIT semis. Lacking of experience, the bears have been overwhelmed by the pressure of such an event and the large crowd of the richmond fans surely influenced the ref. good luck whaka in the final.
Anyway, the coach Arno is happy of his troops and what they provide on the pitch since he took over in the last few games of the regular season, managing to reach this semi is quite a success and encourage the coach to go on with this team in the next season to do even better.

updates coming by Friday morning, but #1 Miami, Fla. has survived 76-70 to reach the 2nd round in the South bracket, while #1 Iowa State is in the final stages of securing a spot in the Sweet 16.

Brackets are updated and Elite 8 matches have been sent...we have 7 of the 8 Elite 8 teams set...still waiting on some 2nd round action in the South bracket.

The marquee matchup of the weekend appears to be #1 Iowa State going against #2 Toledo in the Midwest finale...the only region that went to form. Also, the only two teams still alive with all four power-ups at their disposal.

Winners in the Elite Eight win at least a 3-month premium prize.

In the NIT...Richmond has advanced to the championship game and will face either Oregon State (yours truly) or Southern Utah...those teams are embroiled in a fierce semifinal battle at the moment.

Our final Sweet 16 matchup is ready with #1 Miami, Fla advancing to play #4 North Carolina in the South Region...#5 Marquette awaits the winner of that one.

The other three Regions have crowned champions with Butler (ViperOverLord) winning the Northeast; Iowa State (dcc1220) winning the Midwest and Purdue (Annexator) winning the West.

I'm going to give it a few days for the South Region to catchup, then I'll start the available Final Four matchup (Iowa State vs. Purdue)

congrats to Annexator on getting his Purdue Boilermakers into the NCAA final, while Butler and Marquette battle on the other side of the bracket.

In another note: the ACC had the best tourney run going 17-10 (.630) in the postseason, including an incredible 8-1 mark in the opening round of the NCAA tourney.
