The Tournament will begin April 1st 2009.
Stage 4 - Final 12
Congratulations on making it to the Final 12!
12 players in 3 Groups of 4
Standard, Escalating, Unlimited, Sunny
Here you get to start choosing your maps!
At this point the remaining players will PM me their choice of map from the following list:
Each group will play the maps chosen by the players in the group once.
Points will be awarded as follows:
1st place: 4 points
2nd place: 2 points
3rd place: 1 point
4th place: 0 points
At the end of the round the top 3 players in each group are safely through to the next round.
The players who finish last in their group will play off on the USA map with the following settings:
Assassin
Flat Rate
Unlimited
Foggy
The assassinated player is eliminated from the tournament, the other two players go through to the next round.
No points are carried over; you've got to fight hard every week for America's votes!
Stage 5 - Final 11
11 players will each play four 1 v 1 games (randomly assigned by random.org). Each player will choose a map from the list below:
Everyone will play their own map twice, and 2 opponents' maps.
Standard, Escalating, Unlimited, Sunny
The 3 players with the fewest wins will play-off for survival on USA in the same way as the previous round.
Stage 6 - Final 10
10 players in 2 groups of 5
Standard, Escalating, Unlimited, Sunny
Everyone will choose one map from the list below:
Every group will play each player's chosen map once.
Points:
1st: 7 points
2nd: 4 points
3rd: 2 points
4th: 1 point
5th: 0 points
The bottom player from each group and the next lowest-scoring player (from either group) will play-off on USA in the same way as the last two rounds.
Stage 7 - Final 9
9 players in 3 groups of 3
Standard, Escalating, Unlimited, Sunny
Each player will choose two maps; one from List A and one from List B:
Each group will play both of each player's maps, making 6 games in total.
Points:
1st place: 3 points
2nd place: 1 point
3rd place: 0 points
The bottom player of each group will play-off on USA as before.
Stage 8 - Final 8
8 players in 2 groups of 4
Standard, Escalating, Unlimited, Sunny
Each player will choose two maps; one from List A and one from List B:
Each group will play both of each player's maps, making 8 games in total.
Points:
1st place: 4 points
2nd place: 2 points
3rd place: 1 point
4th place: 0 points
The bottom player from each group and the next lowest-scoring player (from either group) will play-off on USA in the same way as before.
Stage 9 - Final 7
Standard, Escalating, Unlimited, Sunny
7 players will each choose 1 map from the list below:
Points:
1st: 12 points
2nd: 8 points
3rd: 5 points
4th: 3 points
5th: 2 points
6th: 1 point
7th: 0 points
Players will play each of the chosen maps, plus US Senate.
After all 8 games have been played, the bottom 3 players will play-off on USA as before.
Stage 10 - Final 6
Standard, Escalating, Unlimited, Sunny
6 players will each choose 1 map from the list below:
Points:
1st: 8 points
2nd: 5 points
3rd: 3 points
4th: 2 points
5th: 1 point
6th: 0 points
Players will play each of the chosen maps, plus New World, USApocalypse and American Civil War.
After all 9 games have been played, the bottom 3 players will play-off on USA as before.
Stage 11 - Final 5
Standard, Escalating, Unlimited, Sunny
Each player will choose two maps; one from List A and one from List B:
Points:
1st: 7 points
2nd: 4 points
3rd: 2 points
4th: 1 point
5th: 0 points
Each group will play both of each player's maps, making 10 games in total. The bottom two players will play-off on USA in Fog.
Stage 12 - Final 4
Standard, Escalating, Unlimited, Sunny
Each player will choose two maps; one from List A and one from List B:
Points:
1st: 4 points
2nd: 2 points
3rd: 1 point
4th: 0 points
Players will play both of each player's chosen maps, plus New World, American Civil War and US Senate.
After all 11 games have been played, the bottom 2 players will play-off on USA as before.
Stage 13 - Final 3
Standard, Escalating, Unlimited, Sunny
Each player will choose three maps; one from List A, one from List B and one from List C:
Points:
1st: 3 points
2nd: 1 point
3rd: 0 points
Players will play all three of each player's chosen maps, plus New World, American Civil War and USApocalypse.
After all 12 games have been played, the last-place player will be eliminated.
Stage 14 - Grand Final
Standard, Escalating, Unlimited, Sunny
Each player will choose four maps; two from List A, one from List B and one any other map:
Players will play all four of each player's chosen maps, plus New World, American Civil War, USApocalypse, US Senate, USA, North America and World 2.1.
At the end of all 15 games, the player who has won the most games in the Grand Final has won over the hearts of the American public and is crowned the Winner of American Idol Season 8!
