We have had our first fatality.

Magiw of Group 3(Game 2664011) is no longer with us. Magiw was eliminated in Round 10

That also means that the following three players will advance:

wenny
TaCktiX
tookthetrip

Congrats to them, my regrets to Magiw.

miamipc of Group 10(Game 2664032
and Kernal_Kronic of Group 12
were both eliminated in Round 8

Looks like Hound from Group 12 is going to deadbeat. If he does I will be replacing him and anyone else who deadbeats in the same fashion as a drop out. I consider them to be the same.

It is my understanding that only the last place finisher in Round 1 games will be eliminated. I think Hound should be kicked out over Kernal_Kronic in game 2664048. They were both eliminated in Round 8, Kernal is listed as being eliminated first (because his turn was first). But, Hound is gone for missing too many turns. Really, Hound stopped playing in Round 5.

Know nothing about the case, but I'm absolutely for that option - a player who actually played should qualify, even if he's eliminated slightly before the dead beater...

Still trying to decide what to do with deadbeats.

My first thought was that I was going to treat them as drop outs since technically they are.

Sounds reasonable. And you also have more subtle solution:

If someone missed turns in, for example, in 7th, 8th and 9th round. Technically, he's eliminated in 9th round; but actually he eliminated himself in 7th round. Therefore, you should count that he's eliminated in 7th round, not 9th.
So, if someone is eliminated in 8th round - should qualify instead of dead beater...

This solution would remedy the problem that arose in my game. It also seems quite fair. The only hang-up would be if the deadbeat would bother to show up for game 2 if he/she wasn't the one eliminated.

I just took a look.

Hound have been technically eliminated in 8th turn, which meant that s/he abandoned the game in 6th round
Kernal_Kronic has been eliminated in 8th round

so Kernal_Kronic's pass to 2nd round seems really fair to me...

7 of the 12 games are still going.

Once the games have all completed the second round games will begin.

Zemljanin I had been contemplating that alternate way of determining the round deadbeats were eliminated.

It seems to a be a fair way to do it.

It varies leg to leg of the tourney. If I remember correctly the next round loses the first 3 people per game.
