You make it sound like getting a bye is a neutral thing. But what does getting a "win" do for you? Seems to me you don't care how many games you win, you just don't want to get 3 losses. So everyone wants the bye...

If this is the case, and everything is random, is it possible 1 player could get all the byes? Or would you guarantee nobody gets 2 byes before every remaining player gets a bye?

Because we'll have people knocked out each round (after the third round), we can't start the next round until we know "who's still alive". We'll probably play more than one during the first three rounds, but I do plan to hold off on starting the freemium 2nd and 3rd games until their respective previous game is finished during those first three rounds. That way, they're not essentially screwed out of the tournament.

<laughing> Unbelievable that he was the only one that could beat you that tournament, but did it three times. What are the odds of that?

Yes, that is an accurate statement.

It IS POSSIBLE that one player could get them all (or even more than one), I suppose. However, it would be so improbable as to be statistically insignificant, at least until the much later rounds when there aren't very many players left.

No, I don't plan to restrict that possibility any...I like to keep it all random. But as I said, the odds of someone even getting more than one bye (until we get down to say...15 or so left) is REALLY remote. We are starting out with 128 players, after all. <smile>

Actually, I've altered my thought on this (a bit). My previous statements stand...however, I am going to add a 6-month premium prize to the mix for the player who ends up with the best winning percentage (who is NOT the overall tournament winner). If two people tie for best winning percentage (certainly a possibility), then both will get it. If more than two tie for it, then sorry...nobody gets it.

So this way, there is at least some "good" to come out of facing a real opponent rather than a bye.
