Round 2 Rules Clarifications
Ok guys, we're more or less to round two. First of all thanks to everyone for an exciting round one--there were a good many upsets and some quite compelling games. Now we're on to round two which as you all know is somewhat experimental. In addition to the bit on the top post, I wanted to clarify some things here before I send the round two games out.
How do we advance to round three?
Teams will advance to round three by eliminating the other team's "Tyler Durden". Also, if your opponent's "Cornelius" breaks the rules and attacks the other team that opponent is disqualified and your team will then advance to round three.
What can "Cornelius" do? What can't he do?
Cornelius the imaginary friend can attack neutrals, can supply troops to his teammate, and can reinforce his teammate. He can also attack his own teammate should the need arise. He CAN NOT attack any member of the opposing team. Should he do so, that team is disqualified and the other team will advance. Yes, this may be difficult to keep track of so I'm begging you all as the honorable players I know you are to be honest and follow the rules here.
What happens once my Tyler Durden is eliminated?
For the purposes of our tournament once one team eliminates the other team's Tyler Durden that team has won and will advance to round three. That being the case, feel free if you are either remaining Cornelius to start at that point attacking the enemy. It's only natural to try and salvage some points if your team has already been eliminated from the tournament on the one side, or to finish the game as quickly as possible on the other.
Why was the rule changed and we aren't able to decide who will be our attacker after the game begins?
First of all, I'm really sorry about this one. The original map I had for round two was "Space" and I didn't want a bad drop for the Tyler character to ruin a team's chances at the start. Since we changed round two to "New World" that possibility has been eliminated. It was my original intent that your "prize" for winning round one was to get to fight in round two but I changed the rule because of the bad drop possibility. Then when I changed the map I simply forgot to change the rule back to it's original form. Finally I don't want a team to be able to switch up who is their attacker after a few rounds (before contact has been made with the enemy) simply because of some bad dice. I feel that would be somewhat of a cheap tactic. Now going into the game everyone knows who the target/attacker is, and you can plan your strategies accordingly. I'm very sorry if this makes any of you unhappy, but I truly believe it will make for a better overall tournament. Thank you for your understanding.
Wait, wasn't Tyler Durden the imaginary friend in the movie???
Was he? :P Anyway there are three basic reasons why I chose to make round one winners "Tyler Durden." #1 It was Tyler Durden who started Fight Club, #2 At this point in the movie we don't know anyone's imaginary, but we do hear "Tyler's words coming out of my mouth." Finally #3, I thought it was much more of a prize to be Brad Pitt and his ripped abs rather than Ed Norton

Anyway I hope that clears up any lingering confusion. If you're ever in doubt about a move in your round two game, or if you feel your opponents should be disqualified, please send me a pm or post it in this thread and I'll address your question or concern immediately. Good luck in round two, don't forget that if you lose here you're out of the tourney. You'll have to go back to splicing single frames of porn into family films and seasoning the lobster bisque.

Just wanted to confirm that the imaginary player can attack his own teammate, right? So he could build up bonuses as well?

That was changed, as explained in great detail above. This is actually the originally intended format.

I see clear they cannot attack, but can they bombard? It is similar, ... so I understand that it is not.

Sorry, no weakening.
PepeAtila wrote:I see clear they cannot attack, but can they bombard? It is similar, ... so I understand that it is not.

Also sorry, no bombarding though to be honest I didn't think about the bombardment option when I changed maps. I think it would have been ok, but at this point for simplicity and consistency sake I have to stick with absolutely no attacking of the enemy of any sort can be done by the imaginary friend. Anyway I hope you guys understand this is all experimental and for fun, so don't get too upset if you're an imaginary friend with his hands tied. Also your opinions on round two will be appreciated whether they be positive or negative. Despite the frustration of being imaginary (which if you hadn't noticed, I myself am an imaginary friend), I feel that this kind of doubles match forces you to think along entirely different strategic lines. What say you?

I really don't know how I can make any clearer than that.

It appears that the first players moving on to round three and joining Project Mayhem are Agent 86 and nagerous. The rest of you guys can keep standing out there on the porch.

Actually, you guys had already won when you eliminated DJ Teflon, so at that point the restrictions are lifted. Why not try to salvage some points? At any rate, PepeAtila, danryan, EagleofGreenErth, Jezequel, Jackofalltrades, Koganosi, Sportsgod24, Big Jumbo, Waiting4Oct and Don Juaquin, you can all come in off that porch provided you brought two black shirts, two black pants, and three-hundred dollars personal burial money. Only three games have yet to be decided, and all of those are pretty close to over so I'll be making the round three matches pretty soon.
