10 Years Later: Fight Club [Winner: Nagerous]

1999 was a great year for film and it’s hard to believe it was already ten years ago. My favorite movie of all time came out that year, “Fight Club.” This tournament will loosely follow the plot of Fight Club, leading to one final man standing as the buildings crash down around him. There will be multiple game settings used throughout, and freemiums are welcome because the fifth rule is, one fight at a time fellas. Please read the description carefully and only join if you agree to abide by the all the rules of Fight Club!

Scene One: “I want you to hit me as hard as you can.”
This first round of the tourney will feature 48 players playing a single 1 vs. 1 match on Classic Art sequential/flat/chained/sunny. Why Classic Art? I just felt like destroying something beautiful. Hey, even the Mona Lisa's falling apart. Opponents for this match will be randomly assigned. However, everyone will move on to round two. The winners will be Tyler Durdens (Brad Pitt), while the losers will be Corneliuses (Ed Norton).

Scene Two: “Why does a weaker person feel the need to latch on to a stronger one?”
Round two will be 2 vs. 2 doubles matches. Every Tyler will be randomly matched up with a Cornelius for their teammate. Now here’s the tricky part of the game. One of you is real, while the other is imaginary. This means that only one member of each doubles team is allowed to attack the enemy team FOR THE DURATION OF THE GAME. The other member can just give support (troops) and encouragement (reinforcements). The imaginary friend can also attack neutrals, and his own partner, but may at no point ever attack the enemy!!! Tyler Durdens are now locked in via the results of round one. Please see lengthy post on page six for more details and clarifications. Failure to comply with this rule will result in immediate disqualification from the tournament, while the other team gets a free pass into the next round. Please don’t join if you feel you will be unable to accept this part of the format. I know mistakes sometimes happen, but I’m making a zero tolerance policy on this from the start, as it’s just too difficult to redo games and make up for accidental attacks. Thank you for your understanding. The games will be played in New World no spoils/unlimited/sunny. Why New World? So your imaginary friend has something to do and you aren't screwed by a bad drop. Also...Brave New World! Thanks to conquerAce for pointing out the sub-optimality of the original map chosen for this round!

Scene Three: “You do not ask questions about Project Mayhem.”
There will now be 24 players remaining. They will be randomly divided into 6 trips teams. Each trip team will play a triples match against a randomly selected team on NYC flat/chained/foggy. Why foggy? Because YOU DO NOT ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT PROJECT MAYHEM! Members of the winning teams move on to round four.

Scene Four: “His name is Robert Paulson, his name is Robert Paulson, his name is Robert Paulson.”
We have 12 players left now. They will be randomly assigned to one of two six player assassin games played on Berlin 1961 escalating/adjacent/sunny. The two players who successfully shoot Bob in the head will move on to the final round. Why Berlin 1961? In memory of our friend Bob, who bought his steroids from an East German swimmer. They use that stuff on racehorses!

Scene Five: “Where is my mind?”
The final round will be a best of three played on USApocalypse no spoils/unlimited/sunny. Why no spoils? Because the things you own end up owning you. The last man standing will have successfully shot himself in the throat, killed off his alter-ego, and won the love of Marla Singer. Also he’ll be tourney champion!

That’s it. If this tourney proves successful I plan on doing an entire series like this. Already in the pipeline: “10 Years Later: The Matrix”
Thanks for joining! Good luck and remember:
Worker bees can leave.
Even drones can fly away.
The Queen is their slave.

All in to this point, almost a third full =D>
We're blasphemously inverting the first two rules of Fight Club, so feel free to talk about Fight Club. Tell your friends and clan mates. We're all the middle children of history.
