U.S. Election Day (November 6) Update
What a fitting date. What this tournament has worked up to!

co-co has claimed the presidency, earning two points, bringing him into third place! =D>

Meanwhile, thechuck51 and madman7 pick up their first points after becoming Governors in their regions for the first time. They now stand in an advantageous position next round. =D>

Furthermore, Dukasaur (the active President in Round 8, having won it in Round 7) has earned four critical points after he has managed to pass an amendment to the Constitution during his term. In other words, he has won three of the four required US Senate games as President to earn these points. This puts him just shy of first place! =D>

Two rounds remaining!

Round 9 of 10 will begin shortly!

Clearly, the Chicago map produces the best presidents. We should make Obama play on the Chicago map.

 Perhaps! We'll see...West Coast took it in Round 8...but that's still blue...this is madness!

I guess the Southeast could really be the only region that could be considered red. But, this tournament is free of Republicans and Democrats. No political debates. ;)

And I totally forgot to point out the obvious: Obama didn't follow this plan and skipped the governorship. Sort of the executive exception there.

December 6 Update

Standings updated.

Two of our four regions have wrapped up their governor races; just Chicago and NYC left.
It looks like we'll have a very unique Presidential election, some candidates in there who have never yet made it to the nation's race!

We keep chugging away; December already!

I have volunteered to rescue this tournament. In actual fact, it is basically over, so the only thing that remained for me was to verify the score and present it.

First of all, I would like to thank WorldCup4James for carrying us this far with a creative tournament, professionally run and very beautifully presented. It's unfortunate that you had to leave us, and we hope you'll be back one day. In the meantime, a big "Thank you!" for all you have done.

=D> =D> =D>

I have gone through and verified all of James' scoreboards. There were a couple of very minor 1 point mistakes, but nothing that would change the outcome, especially at the top of the scoreboard, which is after all, what most people are worried about.

My findings are here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ap9tZNjRXkJydDE2Y2I5OW8yRUd6U0RleFVYQVBFcGc&usp=sharing
Unfortunately I don't have James' graphical talents, so you will have to be content with a simple and prosaic spreadsheet.

At the top of the spreadsheet, we have Bonobo with 11 points, co-co with 10, and myself with 8. Co-co and myself have no further games to play, and therefore have no hope of overtaking Bonobo. In theory, Namliam has four more games to play, but the most points he could gain would be 4, which would bring him to a grand total of 8, and it seems expressly silly to play four more games just for a chance to end up in a tie for 3rd place.

Therefore, I pronounce Bonobo the victor on the field! The greatest statesman of the 21st century!

Congratulations BONOBO!!!!!

=D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

... and although I lack James' talent with graphics, I feel I would be remiss if I didn't leave you with at least one attempt at presenting the tournament results in graphical form:
